yea, sony had this entire motion control project in development, but weren't expecting to release it because they didn't believe people would go for it (the EYE TOY WAS A TEST, sold well but crap compared to the install base, not worth the extra investement) so now is when they show it off since motion controls are taking off..

It's funny because if Eye TOY was anything like Natal you would think Kojima would have mentioned instead of saying how impressed he was and that it was a technology unlike any other. Hmmmmm. I guess the public will decide if they want Natal or not.

Notice he says, "you can do motion control with color(ie. an RGB camera), but you can only do so well". This "z-cam" he is speaking of, is most likely using infrared like Natal is. Interesting he called it the Z-Cam, because I think there was a product being developed by a different company with that name.

Same with wii mote controls. Sony need to keep stum about ideas until they are being realized in a major way. This Natal business, Microsoft are being silly if they think Sony arent very advanced in this area. All it seems to be is MS trying to pass it off as there idea. Just as Eyepet releases aswell.

I think I am actually gonna use this video whenever someone says that PSEye can be used for the same thing as Natal. Because, right out of the horse's mouth, he says it isn't so.

Just because Natal can easily do the same things the PSEye is able to do does not mean that the PSEye is just as good as Natal. Natal is more technically impressive in every way.

Saying that the two are equal because one demo has been showing running on both is like saying your old NES is just as powerful as your Wii since you can play the original Super Mario Bros on both.

Yes. I suspect at the time it was ideas from Sony central Japan being picked up by SCEE and SCEA as great pr pieces. While the competition were following them very closely. What will be the absolute most interesting thing is what Sony do next gen. Have the opposition opened pandoras box?.
