I know, but it would make for a true revolution - far more than any hardware upgrade or innovative control scheme would.

You already have a PS3. I think that the PS3 has those points. The second in red may be arguable, but I also think that "the PS3 has no games" isn't valid, no more. The last one (the last in the list, not the last in red) depends on how you like controllers. So, you would like an expanded experience of what the PS3 already gives you, eh? |
It doesn't actually have to be a ps3, but those are the points I like most about the ps3 and would like them to be on the next console I'm buying. ;)
I loved the gamecube-controller more than the playstation-controller. the instant I held it I felt like I've hold it for years so something similar to that would be awesome.
I want this:
I'm sure that next generation consoles fully support CryENGINE 3 at decent speed.

I know. I said that because I saw you had a PS3 and the PS3 follows that line (especially the first and third red points).
Of course, other consoles have some of those points, but, as I told you, I said that because you already have a PS3.

in the next generation i want
a console that launches with one sku
easy transfer of my online account ( theres no way i'm buying any dl game from this gen over again)
reasonable memory space from the get go (80-120gb at least )
hardware that has been throughly tested and won't have a huge widespread problem

Those seem basic concerns, from what I've read in this thread until now. I agree.

More companies. I know someone above me said drop it to just 2 companies, but less competition means less desire for the companies to perform better. I want 4 choices minimum. The more competition means the harder compnanies will have to work to get our money. If Sony had been the only company this gen the PS3 would still be fat and still be $600. Competition is good for the consumer.
I'd love to see a Wii 2, Xbox 720, Playstation 4, iGame (Apple), and maybe something by EA and/or Activision.
I seriously think EA could pull off a decent console. Look at the monopoly they'd have on sports games. They have right the the NFL, Their NHL series destroys the 2K hockey series, FIFA is better then PES, Their PGA series goes uncontested, etc. The only major sports they don't dominate are NBA and Baseball. Plus they have some other good series like Need For Speed, Burnout, Rock Band, Dead Space, Battlefield, etc.

From my experience, the (console) gaming market has done much better with only 2 major companies making consoles. This is better because third parties don't have to allocate as much resoruces to multiple versions of the same game or decide one console to 'support' over 3 (or 4) multiple consoles. If you only have 2 consoles to support, third parties will be more willing to make games for both AND there will be far more competition.
There was much more competition between the NES/Master System, SNES/Genesis, and PSX/N64. When there's 3 (or more) systems, one ultimately gets pushed out and third parties hesistate to make major games for 2-3 years waititng till one 'wins'.
