Forums - Sales - Did the price cut really helps the PS3 and the Wii? Or its just temporary?

How many times do I have to say holiday months? Consoles sells the twice amount during holiday months. And yet people here always stay away on that topic and compared the console's sales on summer months(which BTW the slow sales of consoles) and say its because of the pricecut. And yet when I say just wait till the holiday season was over when the sales of consoles even how popular or how much it is sells the twice of amount they say Im staying away from the topic.

WHY? Is it because everyone here admits that the Wii didnt sell that much anymore so Nintendo was desperate to cut the price because even in holiday months the Wii wouldnt sell as its expected?

I DID SAY if the Wii could sell atleast over 500,000 in month of October I didnt even say about the Wii's last year October NPD and yet you're always attacking.

AGAIN, September NPD 467,000 without the price cut. If the October NPD was the same as that even with the price cut then the pricecut didnt work for the Wii

clearly worth it, also doesnt it usually slow down before xmas?

This is how you determine when a price drop help.
Wii-- Worldwide sales three weeks after price drop: 1.04 Millions
Wii-- Worldwide sales three weeks before price drop: 0.58 Millions
PS3-- Worldwide sales 7 weeks after price drop: 2 Millions
PS3-- Worldwide sales 2 months before price drop: 0.82 Millions

Now if the price cut helped? yes THE PRICE CUT HELPED BIG TIME. If it's temporary, I don't have the answer to that question. We will have to wait see how long it will take before both system get back at selling as much as they used to sell before the price cut

And once again, you also use 2008, the known best year for gaming, as if everything that doesn't come close means it's a failure. You just bend and shape figures so you can keep up your claim. You should go work in marketing or as a politician. It's what you do best and no one would believe you still.

So whats the sales of the Wii during Jan-Mar this year then. And I did mean this year. Anyone still dont admit it, theres a market saturation mainly casual stauration already... But hey. You can say anything you want after all. And BTW facebook games are the new casual outlet right now.

And you all still keeps spinning the topic, if the console sales was still 500,000 even with the pricecut even September NPD have 467,000 sales the pricecut did work or not?

Worldwide? Not all countries have the pricecut especially in the UK. And its also the holiday months a season were consoles naturally sell twice the amount

Dont worry about it, sales have not started. With the price cuts and revision so close to Christmas, I'm sure many people are holding off still.

Saying it is pointless when you don't know what "holiday months" mean. October is NOT a holiday month.

The Wii retails at 179.99 pounds in the UK, Previous to October it was retailing at 199.99 pounds.

If that is not a price cut, I'm not sure what that is...........

PS : taking best on how fast this will be called spin because it doesn't agree with you !

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Definitely worth!
