I was expecting this to be a misinterpretation, but looking at the ad, it's pretty clear. Perhaps they have been given preliminary or concept information on one of the next consoles, or perhaps the Natal Xbox will be considered the "next generation"?

If the next generation is to have a big increase in processing power (unlikely), they'll need a lot of time to prepare for next generation games. That may also be true for newer, complex (from a programming point of view) interfaces.

I hope this gen lasts longer. The PS3 is going to dominate the 360 AT LEAST until they drop the price to $150 for the Arcade and make the Pro $200.

The next gen can't start yet. Nobody's ready. The consumers aren't, and the software devs are starting all over again with all the crazy new interfaces.

It makes sense.... they'll need to develop engines for next gen games which takes a few years.

In order to make a good title for the release of a new console you need to start working at around 3 years before the release of that console.

how could you have seven years of ps3 development when its only been out for less than 3?

The time PS4 comes out, they'll only have 6 years of training probably.
