Dragon Age review: "RPG of the decade"

PC Gamer heaps praise on new BioWare RPG

The first Dragon Age: Origins review has arrived via PC Gamer magazine, which brands the BioWare game "RPG of the decade" in its 94% review.

"Thus begins Dragon Age, one of the most enormous and astonishing of games," it says. "Were the difficulty levels not so enormously silly, it would require sheer pickiness to find a major fault with this game."

PC Gamer calls Origins' gigantic environment "the most enormously detailed game world I've experienced, its history stretching back thousands of years, its cultures vivid, beautiful and flawed, the battles enormous, the humour superb.

"I've not only been to huge cities, but I've learned their past, their present, and been involved in shaping their future," it says. "This hasn't felt like passing through a series of checkpoints, but having experienced a world.

"Roleplaying games now have a great deal to live up to," it concludes.

You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

Nice going Bioware! :) I've been wanting this game for so long. Not only for it being the spiritual succesor of Baldur's Gate, but because of it's gameplay reminds me a lot of the KOTOR series, with a clear evolution over it. Plus, it's bioware, how can they go wrong? ;)

@darth

I think so too, but Mass Effect 2 is going to give it some good competition as well. Either way, it's a good time to be a RPG fan :)

That is good to hear, it looks like it is going to be a great game.

They need to make a real KotOR 3 with this engine or something. I'd kill for that. Don't care what system it's on.

@lestatdark

dunno

its the First FF of a new generation, Legends are created with the release of the First FF of a new gen (be it FF1, FF4, FF7 or FF10)

Anyways it is a good time to be a RPG gamer.....from Feb 2010, WKC, SO4, FF13, TOV (probably)

Oh I was refering Mass Effect 2 doing some competition to Dragon Age as WRPG of this gen ;) FFXIII is going to be superior to both of them IMO, and for that to change I've yet to see another RPG with so much impact. At this moment, only another Persona game can do it.
