From what I understand. The Blu-Ray disc is to give streamed movies BD-Live content.

The 360 never required a CD. The original program Microsoft created made you go on your PC to add movies/shows to your queue, and the program would pick up the list you create and let you play them from your 360. Then Microsoft made the whole thing on the 360, including creating your queue.

If I am not mistaken, there are already Blu-Ray players that use the BD-live to get netflix watch now movies already.  It was probably a lot quicker to use this software that they had already built than to create new.  I would say that once they do make the new software the disc will not be needed.  The only hang up probably might come from microsoft.  I would bet they wouldn't want a similar interface used for the PS3.  So they probably have to go build one from the ground up.

I hope you guys enjoy the Streaming of Netflix as much as most of us 360 users do.  I have to admit I use this service more now than I do gaming.  It was worth buying a console just to make it easy to stream netflix IMO..  Cheers to Sony for getting on the ball and getting this deal done.
