Forums - Gaming - Activision: PlayStation 3 Most Advanced!

I think the point here (getting away from nitpicking) is that the power of a game system has never had any real effect on the outcome of the generation. The PSone was much weaker than the N64, and it's power difference was huge. However, the fact that it was so much more expensive to develop games on cartridges than CDs made this not matter. Developers went for the system that was cheap to make games for, and once the overwhelming majority of games were on the PS (and for a cheaper price) it skyrocketed. The other major factor in the PS's success was the presence of a very large budget game library.

NES was definitely stronger then any other thing out then...wasn't it?

SNES was also about equal to Genesis, if not a bit stronger.

Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

No, it wasn't. Compare 3D games in which you can rotate the camera it is obvious which system is the more powerful.

As for Soriku's comment: the strongest system never one would be correct. For example the SNES wasn't the weakest system of its generation.

thats strange.. then why is it that PC has out sold them all.

There are machines much more powerful than PCs that PCs are outselling =)

The Sega Master System was a bit more advanced than the NES.

SNES was pretty significantly stronger than the Genesis.  Its slower CPU was more than made up for by its superior video and sound processors, and it had double the RAM.

Didn't it also have a much larger color pallet due to it's video processor?  Something like 10X the amount of available colors and more able to be displayed at a time.

The real question is:

Does any of this really matter? or do people just wanna have fun?

but isnt it also true that if you put two 32X cards on eachother you got 64bit graphics or is that just a massive rumor becasue if it is that would mean stack 90 of them you would get one hell of a system.

If I remember correctly, they were both 15 bit color (around 32,000 available), but Genesis could show 61 colors max and SNES could show 256... someone correct me if I'm wrong.
