i see amazon "sales rank" increase misquoted as a "sales" increase all the time.

Look, Oblivion for the PS3 is up 32,000% today!!! (from #321 to #1)

To be fair, measuring sales rank movements as a percentage is an awfully stupid way to do it. Why don't they just say "Up 73 places"?

The Rankings at Amazon change constantly. If some guy buys 10 systems in a hour it will skew the sales data. I have tried to use it to judge sales, but really Amazon isn't much of a yardstick as a whole. It is only a yardstick for Amazon.
