Because GT5 Prologue was a Demo and it sold just 4 million. The people which wanted GT 5 are still waiting. Like the people which wanted FF 13 are waiting until it gets released. The Content of the Prologue is anywhere near the Content of GT 5 and the people knew this because its not the first Prologue. The GT Fanbase is a special one. I know people which will buy a PS3 only for GT5. You cant compare the Prologue with the Full game its just a Demo.

Just wait for the release of GT and then you can judge the Situation. If Uncharted 2 can move some Units. And hat a full precedessor. GT 5 will move way more Units.

Just remember the Sales numbers of the last 2 GTs

GT 3 14,89 Mio
GT 4 10 Mio
and the Prologues were always between 3-4 Mio

Every GT fan waits eagerly since 5 years for GT5 and if the expectations can be matched (and it seems they will) the Game will move a lot of PS3s. Its the first real next gen GT and the people are waiting for it. look at MGS 3 and MGS 4 even with a much lower userbase MGS4 sold better then 3 because it was the first Iteration of MGS on PS3 the same goes for GT5. It will probably be even more succesful then GT 4 was. But I doubt it will match GT3 Numbers.

LoL, ok, no doubt Sony is embarrassed about that, but look at it this way that was last gen and this is now.  And the circumstances are so different between the PS2 and XB that I don’t even know why you brought that up. Point is the XB did not stand a chance in hell against the PS2 by the time Microsoft launched it.

imo the 360 never stood a chance against the ps3 either, its still riding on its year head start and has hardly gained anything on ps3 since it released. i knew once ps3 hit that certain price, the 360 would struggle to compete

Say that both consoles will have similar increases during the holiday percentage-wise, that would give the leading format a bigger boost, leading to a bigger difference each week, and that will mean that PS3 will overtake Xbox360 in others before december 31st.

The 360's best markets are UK, Aussie and the rest of the world outside Europe. 360 can forget about mainland Europe, it's well behind there and there's no coming back. Only Scandinavia is still holding the 360 in the silver medal position. So it's down to those 3 "areas" to keep the difference minimal.

I think UK and Aussie can flip back to 360 on a regular weekly basis, it's a question of whether MS has the marketing campaign and the games to do it. Aussie showed some real Uncharted 2 love this week rising by 29% 2nd only in % increase to the USA. But I'm sure the 360 exclusive fare for the holidays will have appeal to the Aussies. Does FM3 have Aussie V8 supercars? I betcha if either GT5 or FM3 added the V8s they would take Aussie (and NZ) in a heartbeat. We love those V8 Fords and Holdens. I'm a Holden man myself.

Obviously the gap in weekly sales will increase in the holiday season, so I think it's safe to expect that the PS3 will overtake the 360 in others some time this Christmas.
