Forums - Gaming - CoD4's Singleplayer is 5-6 hours...

Last I checked, 1/3+ of all Americans' don't even have a real broadband option. (Cable, DSL, T1, etc)

Edit : I forgot my main point. D'oh!

I loved Infinity Ward's previous COD games just for the single player campaigns (I own COD1, it's expansion, and COD2), but it looks like I'll be passing on this one. :(  (Cod3 wasn't by them)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

What is it with short games and skyrocketting prices? Are game developer telling me that not only they are going to raise the price of a game 10 dollars and shorten the game as well? Doesn't make sense at all.

Im downloading the demo (PC) so I can see what its like, but if full single player game length is that short I will not buy until budget price, if its any good!!

Yes I hate this reliance on multiplayer, COD was originally a single player FPS. Im not against multiplayer (still loving Battlefield 2) but don't be unfaithful to a series or disappoint the fans that made the original game popular.

Halo 3 taking more than ten hours? Me and my friend started it around 17.00, and finished it by 02.30, including 30-60 minutes of taking breaks for various reasons. Talking to my other friends, it seems like we were relatively slow with it. I'd definitely call it too short to receive a full score, even with the superlative multiplayer.

I wouldn't call Twilight Princess a current gen game, as much as a last gen game that got bumped way, way too far. It's still awesome, but a Gamecube game nevertheless.

That's about what happened to me. I rented Halo 3, got home around 2:00-2:30 in the afternoon. Do the first two missions Solo on heroic. Going pretty slow and fairly bored, then my friend gets home from school a little after 3:00. He had beaten the game on normal, so he joins me in co-op and we were done around 11:30. Hellva lot more fun and fast with a teammate.

During the same run he got me the Marathon Man achievement, which involves watching 7 very boring terminals for 3 minutes each. Almost all the skulls (only ones missed were the ones In the first two stages. Took the time to get Too Close to the Sun and some other silly achievements, and in the third stage he had to quit half way through, and I had to restart and solo it while he was gone. We were also lagging at times. I also watched most of the cutscenes.

Later with his brother we breezed through Legendary. I can see you taking 10-15 hours if you’re playing solo, for the first time and don’t know what to do. With co-op one person can act as a spawn point if you die, which of course isn’t in solo. If that same friend knows what he’s doing you’ll sail through it. Lot of tour ime was lost trying to collect a particular set of annoying skulls. (Stack two ghosts on each other, surely there was a better way. =P)

Campaign seems more well balanced towards co-op play. Where one person can drive, and another gun during vehicle stages, and you’re constantly swarmed with baddies.

too much focus on multi-player

.. is multiplayer a bad thing? since when? World of Warcraft definitely seems to still be selling retardedly well for online only.

That reply is a total non-sequitur...

For me its OK I want it for its multiplayer, every time somebody tells me that Halo is a 10 hour video game I say NO WAY, I've played at least 200 hrs online, on the other hand MP3 is a good just 15 hour game

I could normally care less about MP and I was going to buy this game just for the SP. This is... frustrating, if true. Five hours? Really? I know it makes me a hypocrite because I enjoyed Heavenly Sword so much despite it's length (which is six to seven hours, not five) but I just expect more length out of an FPS than from an action game for some reason.

I understand why some people refuse to buy Heavenly Sword until it's down to $30 and I'm starting to feel the same way about CoD4. Maybe I'll get lucky on a Black Friday deal like I did with CoD2.

Anything under 8 hours for a game with good multiplayer is unacceptable in my eyes.

Anything under 12 for a single player only game is also unacceptable.

Hrmm.  That's a pretty good standard.  I think I'll steal it from you lol.

Actually, I clocked in HS at a bit over 5 hours and so did Fuzzmosis (his review is in the Sony forum). Depending on how quick you were at moving through the game and how much you rushed, I think coming in at 4 1/2 hours wouldn't be that hard.

Which I consider complete crap, especially from a single player only game. That's just terrible.

Not that 5-6 from CoD is much better but at least it has MP...
