fkusumot - Anyone claiming to be a "core gamer" that doesn't own a DS is a fraud.

Can you please elaborate on that statement.

Sure. It would mean they are claiming to be something they are not.

If by "core gamer" you mean someone who buys every system then I agree.

exactly; what is a core gamer to you Frank?
I don't have a DS, but then i wouldn't know what category to put myself in, i game quite a bit but dont have the money for extra systems (i have had Megadrive, N64, GC and Wii...just 4)

btw "others" numbers are in....170k in the week for the DS ...seriously phenomenal.

(looking at my consoles in the parenthesis above, i paid £60 for the MD with 7 games and 2 controllers, £75 for the N64 [pack-in with F1 game] £130 for the GC and £180 for the Wii, that's a total of a mere £440 and i got 8 games included in that [MD was second hand btw]....i wouldn't have been able to play a game on my £425 PS3...just shows why the price cut was needed...and looking at the Eu numbers again it seems to have helped)

Core Gamer = Seeks out and plays the best games.

TWRoO - I can sympathize with you being monetarily challenged, but a used DS costs £60 (or thereabouts). Or almost as good, a used GBA plus Minish Cap, Advanced Wars and a bunch of Super Mario for not much more than that.

i am currently pondering whether i can afford a second nunchuck, and having been back for my second year at uni for 4 weeks i have still not been out for a drink.

I am considering both a DS and a PS2 though, the PS2 as soon as i can be bothered to look for a slim version for less than £50 (the games are cheap as anything now....even new games are cheaper than second hand GC games like Pikmin2 and SSBM)
A DS i want new, but will probably look for second hand games.

I think i might start selling games back to Gamestation to get credit, because i don't play excite truck or SSX very often, but i know as soon as i sell them i will miss them.

I feel for you. Mario Kart DS would be a valid replacement for a racing game. It's hard to be "core" when you have to pay for books and tuition. I'm sure that will all pay off for you down the line.
