Forums - Sony - The one Way Sony Can Take Next-Gen Easily

^^ I think the PS brand is regaining a lot of strength at the mo. Most casuals think the PS3 is brand new on the market and X360 is old. Interesting how that worked out.

XD what???? I'd like to see where you got that one.

Yes the PSbrand is starting to gain strength, but this gen so far, has definately weakened it.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

PS3 problems at launch, from what I remember:

1) Too expensive!! Due to Blu-ray, cell processor.
2) Cell processor, new architecture that is err, new architecture, no one knew how to use, game devs were like, OMG WHAT, youse telling me to relearn everythings AMGawd?!?!
3) Dual shock lawsuit

High price caused slow sales, less user base caused less game developers to target the PS3?

The Cell processor and Blu-ray were co-developed by Sony, so they took a huge hit in order to prove those were viable platforms for industry/commercial use (or something like that i guess lol).

How many of these will still be problems when PS4 launches? I'd say the road is a lot smoother for PS4.

Heres my disclaimer: This Came To Me In A Dream ->Im Not Saying Sony will, will not etc its just something for discussion that I find interesting IMO

In order to ensure that the PS4 is more successful for Sony they need to have the most important part down. Price. The PS4 can not exceed $400.00 at launch or it will fail. I hope they learned from their mistakes and are ready to re-use and upgrade most of the stuff in the PS3.

Secondly, while Motion Control is nice they need to give people the  OPTION and not make it the standard for their consoles. And now the last thing they need to ensure that they have a successful launch, is the Line-Up.

Most of the time in recent video game history consoles only have one or two games that are even worth any attention at launch. Except the Dreamcast which IMO still had the best launch line up. Sony needs to have titles that span across several genres in order to get a foot hold into next gen. For North America, give us a Naughty Dog game at launch, either Uncharted 3 or Jak V (Jak IV I want on me PSTrey), For Europe, it would be nice to have Gran Turismo 6 launch with the console, and for Japan it would be smart if Sony co-funded the development of a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS4's launch but logic tells me that would be too Epic. So for Japan have a JRPG ready something that fans have been wanting. Legend of Dragoon 2 ring a bell?

These are just my thoughts feel free to agree or disagree, Im in the mood to envoke a healthy discussion.

You dream about consoles??? I think you need to reconsider how you spend your freetime. lol

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Sony should do what nintendo did. Just keep the PS3 features and add a few new features like a new controller and make sure the PS4 is compatible to play all the last gen games. No need to make graphics any better than what they already is. Plus good lunch games and a $400 price range should make the PS4 win next gen.
