PS3 problems at launch, from what I remember:
1) Too expensive!! Due to Blu-ray, cell processor.
2) Cell processor, new architecture that is err, new architecture, no one knew how to use, game devs were like, OMG WHAT, youse telling me to relearn everythings AMGawd?!?!
3) Dual shock lawsuit
High price caused slow sales, less user base caused less game developers to target the PS3?
The Cell processor and Blu-ray were co-developed by Sony, so they took a huge hit in order to prove those were viable platforms for industry/commercial use (or something like that i guess lol).
How many of these will still be problems when PS4 launches? I'd say the road is a lot smoother for PS4.
