Forums - Nintendo - Reason Epic Mickey is on the wii, because of the audience

Oh, you mean for the same reason KH3 will be on the Wii as well?!

Not to troll but if this game fails. I am going to laugh hard after reading this

Well it won't happen so you don't need to worry about that. Mickey Mouse (popular IP, popular among kids which own a lot of Wiis) + Warren Spector (hardcore will be happy) + big plans for the game with huge advertising a given? Yeah, this game is going to sell a ton.

LOL. Great power of wishful thinking, huh?

This game was just announced like 2 1/2 weeks ago, and it's already destined for greatness, and is going 2 sell a ton? on wii? without any gameplay images, yet? Let's just wait and see, shall we?

You doubt the power of mickey? The nostalgia factor by itself would probably be enough to draw in older generations.

Does this means that Kingdom Hearts III is coming to the Wii?

Hopefully, plus a KH 1+2 compilation would be good as well.

I'm not even sure why people are butthurt. This is one of the few 3rd party games on the Wii that acually makes sense. It's not a spinoff, it's not niche and it's not being sent to die. Everyone knows Mickey Mouse, it's built around the Wii's functionality and Disney is pushing it hard. That's all you need to know. Putting it on another console simply makes no sense.

I don't know who actually said that (the thread doesn't mention it), but he/she is undoubtedly a grade A moron for it. That could maybe make sense 4 di HD consoles since I'm guessing they want 2 save costs, but hasn't this person ever heard about PS2, the best selling console of all times?!

... and I don't see how motion controls are "perfect" for this, either. That's just fanboy talk.

The PS2 is an old console, if you didn't notice...

Why would making it for the HD consoles save costs when developing for them costs more than the Wii??

Motion controls are perfect because the game allows you to delete/recreate stuff with the brush Mickey uses.

1.-Yes, I know it's old, but it doesn't matter if it's a 9 or a 90 year old console, what matters is that PS2 still has good selling power for some games, like dis 1, for example... and even when it's clear that the wii version would sell better, the PS2 port would't sell much less 4 sure.

2.- I know that too, and that's exactly why I understand Epic's decision to not port it to those 2 consoles, I thought that part of the comment was clear.

3.- Yes, motion controls are O.K. for this game, but it's not like they can't adapt the gameplay to the Dualshock 2. Capcom did the same with Okami, by releasing the PS2 version first.

1. So why don't more Wii games get ported?

2. OK.

3. OK, but the gameplay wouldn't be as good.

There's no more point supporting the PS2 with major games when new consoles are out, period.

1.- Well, I said "some" games, not "every" game.

2.- -------

3.- Yes, maybe not "AS" good, but good enough, none the less.

Lol. Tell that to EA and Konami, to name a couple. They keep supporting it with mayor game releases like fifa and PES. Hell, they even released COD5 on PS2, and let's not even talk about japanese support. The thing is, PS2  still has guaranteed support through all 2010 (after that I also expect it to fade away, however.) So, it makes NO SENSE @ ALL not 2 port Epic Mickey to the PS2, when it's just easy PROFIT. That would just b an "EPIC" mistake, PERIOD.

U know what, actually MORE wii games should b ported to PS2, like Deadly Creatures, Madworld, or Cursed Mountain. It makes no sense, either. It's not like they are such graphical monsters that it can't be done, they all have last gen graphics, but the developers seem to prefer watching them fail miserably than to do so, so I'm glad that they all had the low sales they have.

wow, i wasn't expecting this to get much of response!

Fifa and PES? CoD?

All those franchises are established multiplatform franchises that appear on everything. Those are completely nothing like this game. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand. There are always exclusives. With your logic, every Wii exclusive should be ported to PS2. Every 360 exclusive has to be on PS3. Every PS3 exclusive has to be on the 360.

That's not how it works.

Actually, they have something in common with this game... they are ALL 3rd. party games,  and that's what matters here. U talk about the exclusives, and that's fine, but Epic Mickey doesn't have 2b one of them, the franchise is simply too big. Now, if Epic and Nintendo have an exclusivity agreement, that's different of course, but they haven't made it public. With "my logic" not every wii exclusive "SHOULD" b ported to PS2, but the 3rd. parties "CAN" b. BTW,I know that is not how it works, I simply never implied that.

The key word here is "PROFIT", and that's even easier to understand.

P.S. It's a good thing that all those 3 examples are established multiplatform franchises, isn't it? If that wasn't the case, probably none of them would've make it to the wii, and the 1st. two  still sell better on PS2.

Holy crap, people are actually dumber than I thought they were. I usually say that because I disagree with their opinion but this thread shows a clear dumbening of the general VGC populous (of course there are exceptions with people calling others out but it's still depressing).
