Forums - Sony - Namco thanks Japanese 360 Tales of Vesperia owners for being beta trialists

~60,000 people bought Magnacarta II in Japan (this was before the SO4 PS3 announcement but well after the ToV PS3 announcement) and many 360 owners in the west have said that they're going to buy Magnacarta II (for 360) even after the SO4 announcement. So I think the belief that people are going to avoid 360 jrpg exclusives from now on is false. Most gamers aren't going to wait for the possibility of a port. Just look at the GTA games. PS2 versions sold a lot more than the "complete" Xbox versions. I'll probably get Magnacarta II but I'm waiting for a half-price drop at the very least (as I do with most games I buy).

Yeah, but thats just the thing. Sony purchased a four year exclusivity deal with Rockstar games and made the bulk of the money on the PS2 whilst Microsoft and the Xbox ended up looking like shit. It was sad to see GTA sales on the Xbox (I barely played my Xbox when I had it anyway, but still). Microsoft does a similar thing in making sure there was exclusive DLC on their system and they get looked at by PS3 fanboys like they did some massive wrong to the industry, where Sony never even allowed original Xbox owners to even touch a GTA title for four years. At least Microsoft didn't pull that same greedy shit and paid to have a superior version of the game made. The DLC came out too little too late for my taste, but over two million people got to enjoy 'Lost and Damned' and will now enjoy 'The Ballad of Gay Tony'.

Ok ok, but if they' re not going to release it in NA/EU, we have only to cry about it.

The more I think about this I less I care.

Seriously, by the time it reachs North American shores for the PS3 it will be a year and a half later or possibly more, two years if It's released in the summer?

The 360 owners got one of the best RPGs of this gen years early, and the PS3 will get extras since they had to wait as long.

It's a good time to be a PS3 owner.

My only wish is they would make the extras DLC for the 360 even if it costs something, that way all sides could be even.

Magna Carta 2 for PS3 is confirmed by just watching what Namco just did.

This is what it's all about. You could already have played and finished the 360 ToV, or wait a pretty long time for the PS3 ToV with a few extras thrown in. Even if you waited a bit you can pick up the 360 version for dirt cheap now, or still wait more for a full priced PS3 version. It all depends on what's important to you.

I don't have a PS3 (and I have no plans to buy one), so I bought the 360 version a long time ago (last year). Am I pissed off at BN? maybe a little. Do I regret buying the game? No, I don't. Especially after I just watched the ToV movie. Really good movie, BTW!

Wow i think Namco needs to stfu or release all this new content for the 360 version as DLC. but theyre too busy being terrible software vendors to notice that they are alienating their customers... I think i speak for collective 360 owners of this game when i say FUCK you!

Last time I checked Tales of Vesperia, Magna Carta 2 (Which I don't think will stay exclusive for long after the PS3 momentum picks up) Tekken 6, and Soul Calibur IV were all great games. Then we've got Dead to Rights, Eternal Sonata and Naruto: Ninja Storm coming. They are one of the top publishers. They've just made it abundantly clear that a person who paid well out of pocket to buy a 360 needs to pay more out of pocket to buy a PS3 in getting a decent Japanese made title. It's fucked up, but I am glad I have both systems in the end. It's so fucked up though, especially when Sony paid nothing and Microsoft did.

this is one thing you need to understand though, MS' money is not our money, in another perspective, you can say they are dicks for holding time exclusive rights because they want to play the same monopoly game that they have been doing in the computer world. it's nothing but shady business ethics and we as consumers shouldn't care about stuff like that and just go for the better version or more completed products when they become avaliable. if a customer already spent the money, the said individual simply got suckered in, and that's nobody's problem but his/her own, and then this individual needs to come up with a solution, mine was selling all my 360 stuff while I still was able to personally, I simply stopped giving a rat's ass about it after E3.

I doubt atleast people in Japan are gonna fall in the "360 JRPG's" trap again

as SO4 & TOV are on PS3 now, with heavy rumors of TLR coming

What 360 trap? What is wrong with you? It's a god damned system and I feel horrible for those who got screwed in Japan because the majority are biased to an American made system. Hopefully they have PS3's as well as their 360's. I also hope they enjoy their western titles which are popular in the west and niche titles in Japan. I feel the same way, because I have to now split my 360 and PS3 collection the same way between western devs and eastern devs. I can totally relate with them. Psh.......360 trap my ass.

I agree, but you can't deny that the 360 is much worse built than the Japanese products either when you look at their track record, all electronics break, but it shouldn't be that often, the fail rate is simply too high and Asian people are all about value so therefore you can't blame them for being biased toward American products in general. The things that Americans build really well in general are: weapons and Boeing airplanes, electronics is not their forte unless you go into military grade stuff which is on a completely different level =P.

big companies will always do that because they are assholes, Sony is no different than MS indeed =). you are absolutely right, and they are just as bad as one another, people need to get over it and just enjoy the gaming aspect of it lol.

you should totally buy a PS3 now that it's cheaper =P Uncharted 2 is quiet amazing lol.

It matters not, Microsoft still funded the full version again, which means Namco should work out the man hours and get the fans the DLC. It's as simple as that. Microsofts consumers getting screwed only makes Microsoft look bad and naive as a company for shelling out so much money. Think about that.

That has nothing to do with a devs decision. I don't care if one percieves the 360 to be a lesser system in quality, because it has given me (subjectively) three great years with only one RROD conflict. 40 and 60 GB PS3's are flipping out and people barely complain. This is about the consumers getting screwed over when Microsoft paid for a right they should all have.
