Forums - Nintendo - Crystal Bearers developer: Selling on Wii will not be easy.

Then why release it on Wii if you think its not going to sell well

Whose to say it would work on the other consoles as well? He said it is "hard" to sell well on the Wii, not that it is easy on the other consoles. Personally I don't see what the trouble is. It is an existing series, with previous entries to back it up. It also has "Final Fantasy" in the name. It will sell well on the Wii. It is the new IPs that have trouble selling above average.

Around the Network

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (ok, might be stretching it. I haven't played it personally but some who have said it is good quality).
Guitar Heror III & World Tour
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Sega
EA Sports Active (Hey, it's not hard core, but it is quality).
RE 4
Rayman Raving Rabbids games
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Shawn White Snowboarding
Call of Duty: World at War
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 All Play
Red Steel

(Just glacing at the top 50... which have lots of Nintendo games, but we are only talking third party...)

They probably started developing it game a long time ago. Before anyone suspected that certain games wouldn't sell well.

I know that a lot of nintendo games are quality games. But that list is not within my definiton of quality. Especially m&s, guitar hero, lego star wars, rayman and red steel. I haven't played EA sports active or shaun white and propably never will so I will let someone else decide if those titles have quality or not. :)

Thanks for your answer, even though I meant the top quality games on wii. Not the best games on top 50 sellers. ;P

They started developing the game before the Wii was even released. That is even more reason to think it wouldn't sell. Seriously, people need to stop thinking every "core" wii game fails or will fail.

They said they didn't start developing the game until a few years ago, AFTER the Wii was released.

And they showed a teaser at E3 2006, before the Wii is released? Right. Maybe what you are referring to is mentioning the major change in the game. Either way my point stands, they were planning for the game to be put on the Wii before the Wii's launch.

You can't blame developers for your tastes not matching up with what sells? You can blame them if some of your type of game sells on the other systems, but are not on the Wii at all.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

In case you did not notice, we were talking about quality and not personal taste.

Then why the hell did you write that part? Don't pretend that isn't making your own definition your personal taste.

You cannot question the quality of Wii releases. Back in the day I got into a huge problem because I said Carnival Games, yes Carnival Games is bad. On the other hand Dead Space doesn't sell and Nintendo fanboys blame the quality of the game without even playing it. Also any game by Nintendo that gets bad reviews must be a conspiracy by the bad bad gaming media that hates little old Mario or some would claim at least.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
