| z101 said: Its obvious that is hard to sell Wii games at the moment, because there are many quality titles to be releases in the next few month until march. That has nothing tot do with the fairy tale of "wii-core-games" not selling much. |
What is the list of quality games that's coming that's so many that a Final Fantasy game will have trouble selling? NSMB and what else?
The Wii 3rd partty core games not selling is not a fairy tale, look at the list of games that have sold over 1.5 million copies on the Wii:
Total: 30 games
1st party: 17
3rd party: 13, 7 of which are not core games: Carnival games, EA sports active, Deca Sporta, Game Party amd 3 Rayman games.
5 of those are minigame collections and 2 are knock off of Nintendo (Wii Sports and Wii Fit).
The other 6 are:
Two Mario and Sonic olympic games which barely fit the definition of core game.
Guiter Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour, core games very friendly to casuals.
Sonic and the Secret Rings and Lego Star Wars which are the one 3rd party game that is solidly in the core game category (sales are in a big part due to the Star Wars and Sonic names).
Total 3rd party core games selling over 1.5 million on Wii are 6 out of which 4 can be casual or core.
Other top 50 selling Wii games: My Fitness Coach, Big Beach Sports, Smarty Pants, Active Life are all casual games in the top 50 sellers from 3rd parties, haven't heard of 2 of them till now that have sold great because of casual gamer purchases. 3 of those are 'inspired' by Nintendo games.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
