Forums - Nintendo - Crystal Bearers developer: Selling on Wii will not be easy.

Its obvious that is hard to sell Wii games at the moment, because there are many quality titles to be releases in the next few month until march.

That has nothing tot do with the fairy tale of "wii-core-games" not selling much.

What is the list of quality games that's coming that's so many that a Final Fantasy game will have trouble selling? NSMB and what else?

The Wii 3rd partty core games not selling is not a fairy tale, look at the list of games that have sold over 1.5 million copies on the Wii:

Total: 30 games

1st party: 17

3rd party: 13, 7 of which are not core games: Carnival games, EA sports active, Deca Sporta, Game Party amd 3 Rayman games.

5 of those are minigame collections and 2 are knock off of Nintendo (Wii Sports and Wii Fit).

The other 6 are:

Two Mario and Sonic olympic games which barely fit the definition of core game.

Guiter Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour, core games very friendly to casuals.

Sonic and the Secret Rings and Lego Star Wars which are the one 3rd party game that is solidly in the core game category (sales are in a big part due to the Star Wars and Sonic names).

Total 3rd party core games selling over 1.5 million on Wii are 6 out of which 4 can be casual or core.

Other top 50 selling Wii games: My Fitness Coach, Big Beach Sports, Smarty Pants, Active Life are all casual games in the top 50 sellers from 3rd parties, haven't heard of 2 of them till now that have sold great because of casual gamer purchases. 3 of those are 'inspired' by Nintendo games.

No I called the person who judged a game that is not even out as a fanboy because the developer said it might not sell well which if you think about it instead of coming after me makes sense. So no one should make any thread that has any negative information in regards to the Wii or a Wii game, got i t. I didn't know you decided what kind of threads should be made or not.

I didn't say the game won't sell well the developer of the Wii game did. If Bungie said the next halo might not sell well it would be big news, but because this doesn't fit the vision of Nintendo fanboys that the Wii is the perfect console and that anything that says otherwise is trolling., even from the developer of a game on the system, a major 3rd party release.

Hmm, that's interesting. You fabricated an argument and then fought against it by claiming that the imaginary Wii Army said it and is out to get you. I haven't seen that type of paranoid behavior since Hus got perma'd.

Total 3rd party core games selling over 1.5 million on Wii are 6 out of which 4 can be casual or core.

1.5 million? Is this the new goal post? I can't really keep up with the Wii detractors anymore.

1.5 million are the top 30 selling Wii games of which 6 only are core 3rd party games, 4 of which are core/casual hybrids.

You made up the fact that I called ppl who disagree with me fanboys, I called 1 person in this thread a fanboy for pre judging the game.

Can't be paranoid because I couldn't care less what Wii fanboys think of but trying to clear things up for people who missed certain things.

I did not fabricate an argument fanboys for a fact (or at least the msot rabbid ones of all 3 consoles) cannot accept anything wrong with their console, that is not an argument that is a fact. I make a thread quoting the developer talking about their game sales on Wii and am called a troll because the information the developer relayed was not to your liking. Who's the fanboy here?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It was never stated anywhere in the thread. Its a strawman argument and you got called on it. Give it up and move on, or point out one person who said anything close to that.

Also, why does a game have to be in the top 30 selling to be relevant? Why is that arbitrary cut off point so critical?

What wasn't stated? The arbitrary number are the top selling games on the system of which the 3rd party core games but if you look at 3rd party games taht sold a million versus 1st party and casual games the numbers are not stellar either.

That part is the strawman. The part you and claude were just talking about. Point out where it was said, or just accept that your argument is fallacious. I am going to modify a quote from myself as an added response, and hopefully I get something more useful out of you this time.

Also, why does a game have to be a million seller to be relevant? Why is that arbitrary cut off point so critical?

You are not any less transparent now than you were when you used to be a mod. You come in here with high horse BS about your holy crusade to save the Wii Army from their sins and pride in thinking their console is perfect...whose ass are you pulling this from? Who even said that in this thread? Could you be any more obnoxious?

What's the precendent for 1.5 million and the "top thirty?" The million sellers list starts at 1.00 million, the default top games list starts at the top 50. I decided to look at the list to see what you were so desperate to hide to make your tired troll arguments work and...surprise surpise! 1.5 million conveniently shaves off games like Call of Duty 3 + 5, Red Steel, PES, Star Wars TFU, Lego Indy + Batman, Shaun White, Sonic Unleashed, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, and more.

Super Mario Galaxy 2, Fragile Dreams, Sin and Punishment 2, Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter 3, No More Heroes 2, Metroid Other M, Tales of Grace, Epic Mickey, The Grinder...

And personally, as i live in a Pal country, i'll still have to buy Muramasa, and a Boy and his Blob, released in 2009...

The Crystal Bearers is in many "want lists" as well, and is in direct competition for the Wii's "core gamers" money...

Some people may buy 50 games each year, but when you buy some of the best DS games, some of the best Wii games, and some of the best Wiiware games, you already have a very decent budget when like me and many others, you usually "only" buy 10 to 20 games each year...

2010 is by far the best year Wii's gonna have so far, as there are still many games unannounced, 3rd party as well as 1st party... the list above is mainly for the first 6 months of the year ONLY, 2 or 3 of these games will come later, by the end of 2010... so the budget of many Wii/DS lovers is already saturated, when the 2010 year hasn't even started yet...

Now who is paranoid? Also what I'm doing is nowhere near as obnoxious as coming into a thread calling me a troll because I made a thread quoting the game developer. I did not say anyone in this thread said their consoles is perfect, that was my description of fanboys in general and a respnose to the game being bashed before anyone has every played it.

By saying the next few months I thought it was meant literally the next few moths, the holiday period. Some of those games will sell well but are further away (Galaxy maybe a year away?) and Mickey (maybe beyond a year). Sin and Punishment, Monster Hunter, Tales Of Grace  and No More Heroes might be good games but they will not light up the charts at least in my estimation.
