Forums - Nintendo - Close but no Cigar - you're just not fit enough

Many know this already, but with the release of Wii fit plus, the original, Wii Fit has left the top ten worldwide sales. It is however still in the top 20 (15 and 18th for the last 2 updates), but it didn't manage the main goals that were set for this game.

1) It did not stay 100 weeks in the top 10 section.... indeed it is currently on week 99, this is a failure for a Wii series title that only Wii music had done before (dunno for wii play). One can hardly imagine Wii sports resort not selling top 10 for the next 90 weeks, so this is really  a failure.

2) Never did Wii Fit surpass the PS3. Many will remember this thread http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=51794&page=1 which was created to track the feats of this gaming world changing phenomenon. At the end of the race, the gap is about 2.5M, so 10% of PS3's sales. Some will blame the shorter life span of Wii Fit, but such things didn't keep champions as the PS2 from selling well beyond the release of their successors. Others will just say that it was a race it never could have won. All that we can say now is that Wii Fit failed

Let's see what Plus can do, but frankly, without the novelty effect and with many people having moved away from console fitness, who can give it a chance against a PS3 that did succeed it's diet and is now Fit and Slim?

lol you did it for the lulz didnt you?

"Like you know"

Wii Fit + has divided the country into people who are fit and the seemingly superior people who are fit +. The only thing stopping a Wii Fit Civil War is PS3 sales. Personally, I hope both versions of Wii Fit combined can't overtake the PS3.

LOL, poor Wii Fit. It was a brave experiment, but that's the problem with risks like this. THey don't always work.
