Now that it seems Nintendo has secured first place this gen I was wondering what they could do to secure victory very early for the next gen. I believe that fall 2011 or fall 2012 will be the launch period for the wii successor and I also believe it will have full backwards compatibility with the wii platform (maybe even GCN too, since the two platforms are so similar.)
Well I figure they should launch the next wii platform with a few of the following games.
Obviously the true successor to Wii Sports Resort, with some sort of perfected motion controller. I think depending on how DQX sells on the wii Square will give them DQ XI and having it launch within a year of the system's release would go a LONG way to securing the Japanese market early on.
I also believe a Mario Kart game is essential with proven online features, track packs and various updates. Considering how long it will be between Mario kart games at that point I do not see why it wouldn't be possible. The sequel to Mario Galaxy 2 should also not be that far off at that point either so I would expect it to launch somewhere within the first year of the life cycle.
Ultimately Super Smash Brother's usually comes out early in the generation for nintendo main consoles now, so the fourth installment would be a blessing.
Ultimately in the first year it would enable Nintendo to have a stranglehold on the first year market covering most genre's (RPG, Casual Sports, Racing, Platformer, Fighter).
What would you want to see launch within the first year of Ninty's next console?
P.S. I also think a Professor Layton Console version would be a good idea in Japan too.
