I counter your Alfred J Kwak with my Borthers Grimm and Andersen, not the bastardized version of their works the US has either.

Would you people try naming authors who haven't been dead for hundreds of years

Jesus God, literature is a thriving artistic force today, too

I haven't heard of any modern authors writing "realistic" stories for kids that include murder, dismemberment, mutilation, child stealing, child death, or anything other then flowers and happy and general unrealistic joyful bullshit. LOOK AT THE ENDING OF DISNEY"S LITTLE MERMAID! HOW COULD THEY?!

Neil Gaiman's Graveyard Book! Or Coraline, if you prefer!

Yes, and modern literature is so effe up that the Graveyard Book basically automatically won the John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children's literature. Today's children are wussies I've decided.

Also Gaiman is definitely in the minority and I wonder how many parents in the US would not scorn at his book..... He also appeared on the scene waaaay back in the day, I almost wouldn't call him modern. It's been how long since the Sandman series?

....You don't really read much contemporary fiction, do you.

Well define contemporary.... It's not like I've been reading Andersen or Grimm, haven't touched them in ten years or so. The last children's book I read was Harry Potter I guess and Rowling added a sprinkle of realism with heroes actually dying and it totally blew up, in a good way I mean. Imagine that....

Try Coraline. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

That's the big difference between Japanese and American developers. Japanese devs are great story tellers and American devs are not.

I agree.  Japanese games do have better stories to me.  Japanese people put more heart and soul into they work.  Look at Japanese anime like Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, and others.  They have good story lines and great fighting scenes also.  I hate American cartoons.

Bleach and Dragon Ball Z does not have great storylines. They are pretty much plotless. The Naruto manga on the other hand does have a really awesome story. I'll agree with you on that.

To me they all have great storylines but you have your own opinion.  Right now I watch Bleach the most.

I ended up being dragged to see the movie. It was pretty awesome. I felt the book must have been better though.
