well I started about an hour ago.

Wait a couple days for issues to come up and then you can start forming your government to whatever you want.

I've got a strong economy, good public healthcare and welfare while maintaining human rights.

Already have the government and country i want.  Can't wait to see how i cock it up.

First issue was about compulsive voting.

As if somehow the majority of the people coming in and voting "C" for every issue was somehow better then them not voting at all.

Also i need to look up "New York Times" democracy.

I said the same - if the people choose to submit themselves to the will of strangers, then so be it - so shall they be subjected!

Carried out to the logical extreme I guess I should allow people to sell themselves into slavery?

Huh.

This is weird.

well that's the novelty of the game, the options you choose have some sort of weird catch to them and messes up your country one way or another.

I'd say it's different.

The main difference being those who choose not the vote still always have the choice.  They have a right they aren't exercising.

While someone who sells themself to slavery world be "selling" a right and getting rid of it.

Right... and in order to do that, they would need to opt out of the social contract of an absolute Socialist Democracy, especially one started by Anarchic Secessionists.

So no one would be able to sell themselves into slavery in Butswania, if only because the condition of slavery is literally impossible: one could choose to stop being a slave at any time. What one would have is more like indentured servitude. In order to really sell oneself into slavery and surrender one's freedoms, one would have to leave the country and sell oneself into slavery in a foreign land where that sort of thing is deemed acceptable.

I think my anarchist state is going to end up being a bunch of warring barbarian tribes, which could be cool.

Maybe I can make a second country, and try to set up a benevolent absolute dictatorship...

Yeah, i expect to either be voted out of power, or if that's impossible have my country be destroyed by something totally preventable but wasn't based on the prevention being a violation of human rights.

I tried this out like three years back. It was pretty interesting.

I wonder if I could track down my old city.

Probably not. They delete accounts that have been inactive for 28 days.

This is why your people have such a massive trade deficit. The correct approach is to crush your people down with the iron fist of oppression until they think what you want them to.
