Forums - General - If You Could Change Mistakes You Made, Would You?

"I once forgot to send a guy to his x-ray, so he died from a blood cloth in his lungs. But hey, I wouldn't change that mistake even if I could, because it would change who I am now."

Yeah, I've been making the same mistake since I started my education day-in, day-out: laziness. It's not accidental, but it's a mistake, nonetheless, and I probably won't change, and I'm content being where I am with my laziness.

But I could be looking at Oxbridge right now if I wasn't as lazy.

if I could go back in time, I'd say:

1) quit being so lazy in school and study and freakin do your homework! I know its easy, but you'll learn how to be a harder working student this way!

2) playing piano is COOL even if no one else in school is learning it. Don't quit and practice you knucklehead.

3) go to the community college for at least 2 years first; you can save yourself thousands of dollars in tuition that way!

4) Buy up as much stock in Apple and Google as you can and cash it ALL OUT in ~ november 2007. Then invest ALL of it back in once everything hit rock bottom

^ Yeah right, more like buy NINTENDO stock.

Actually my biggest mistake in the stock market is that I privately predicted that Martha Stewart's company stock, which got hammered when she went to jail, would recover, since it should be able to operate without her. But I did NOTHING about it. I could have made like 300% on that, and I had a bunch of money in the bank.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Absolutely, especially if I got to keep some of the knowledge that I have now. Looking back, I can see signs that I should have picked up on going back to high school. Perhaps if I were to act on those signs, I'd have a BF now? But my shyness and confusion led me to not know about myself for several years later... and that is something I truely regret.

Some I made intentionally and hurt people.

Those I would change.

If you did it intentionally, was it, in fact, a "mistake"?

Looking back, they were mistakes.

No.

Seems I wasted time on this thread tiping all that stuff. Not much thoughtful discussion spawned from it lol.

problem is most people responded to the question as thought it were a yes or no one or in some cases, a what would you change one, which isnt what i asked, i wanted to know if people thought (as i do) that our mistakes are part of who we are (again, before you go all anal on me, im not saying they werent mistakes, just that by changing them, i change who i am, and i like who i am, i still deeply regret my mistakes, i just wouldnt change them if i could)

Yes but I felt the thread needed some concrete examples because I find it's ridiculous to not wanna change any mistakes at all.

But giving those examples and investing so much time in this thread was a mistake I wish undone.
