I'm getting my own copy today.  I need cake BAD.  Do I download it or buy a tangible copy?  And why?

I would go with steam simply because you never need to find disc to re-install. But also because you are going to want to play TF2 anyways so why not utilize steam from the start?

The advantages of the box is a disc and manual of your own, as well as not having to wait for the files to download on a fresh install.

There are good reasons for both routes but it depends on what kinda person you are. I find that I don't need to play games right after a fresh OS install and since I can just click a few buttons and steam will download and install it for me and pick up where it left off if I need to restart that it is fairly convenient for me.

Is re-installing pretty easy through Steam? I'll probably get a new computer in the distant future when Spore and StarCraft 2 come out.

I'd go with the Steam version way more useful.

Definitely Steam.

If you go buy the discs, the only thing different is that you have to put the discs in to install the games.

Once you install the games, you'll never need to use the discs again...so what's the point? You're only paying extra for sales tax if you buy the discs.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Crap I haven't used Steam since I bought Half-Life 2. Is this gonna take a million years to update?

Doesn't take long at all. I envy you getting to install Orange Box and play these games for the first time. Prepare for epic amounts of win.
