Forums - Nintendo - I think everyone's forgetting one thing about NSMBWii

i'm sure there will be *some* people buying an extra set or two of controllers and nunchucks, but how many do you honestly believe are gonna spend upwards of $200 ($50 for the game, another $100 for 2 remote and WM+ bundles, and $40 for 2 nunchuks) for a single game?

When I get a gift that costs more than $150, that is typically the "main gift", with a few lesser gifts. I don't see NSMBWii being that main gift.

Make no mistake about it, nintendo is going to have a monster game on their hands and an equally monstrous quarter in sales this holiday, but expecting/thinking a significant amount of people are buying 2 (or even 3 extra sets of controllers, as the OP states) is borderline delusional.

The game doesn't need nunchucks or Motion+.

Somebody could easily buy this game with 1 or 2 or 3 more remotes for a big Christmas party, or maybe pick up this game and Wii Play.

I bought 3 remotes and 3 nunchucks at Wii launch.

I have had 4 wiimotes for a long time. And 3 nunchucks for a long time.

Nintendo still doomed?

I thought it used wii motion plus?

either way, thats still $90 for one wiimote and the game (which is actually very probable) $130 for 2, and $170 for 3 wiimotes. Thats A LOT of money, especially in this recession and with many analysts anticipating flat and even 1% decline in sales compared to last year. I just don't see it happening.

I doubt "most" people would buy a third and fourth remote (surely everyone has Wii Play?) just for this. I think a lot of people won't touch the multiplayer at all, and those that do experience 3/4 player games will probably do so when friends bring their Wiimotes with them.

I hope we can play with a gamecube controller.

i have one...

well 2 of'em did get burnt, but definitely getting another 2

You're meant to waggle them about, not try and smoke them.

I think Wii sports already did that

I've had four since shortly after I bought my Wii in 2006. I picked up extras for Wii Sports during family functions that Christmas. :D

Yes, many games that have 4 players that makes you want to actually buy 4 wiimotes but how many of them that makes you feel like you __need__ them?

Brawl is indeed one of them but Brawl doesn't have the selling power that NSMBWii does. Hence, the wiimote sales for NSMBWii will be greater than Brawl.
