Forums - Microsoft - Halo: Reach - First 15 milion seller ?

hahahahahahah, is that a joke or are you talking serous, gear metal gear solid 4 dident sell 15 million, how the hell could halo reach sell 15 million, the only game that possibly do that for HD gaming is GRAN TOURISMO 5

Gran Turismo 4 only sold 10 million copies on the PS2 (which had 80% marketshare), MGS can't even be compaired to the Halo franchise in term so sales. The first Halo sold more then any of the MGS games and Halo 3 is miles beyond MGS4 or even MGS3 which has the luxery of being on the PS2. So of all three franchises Halo has the most potential to sell 15 million copies of one game. Not that I can see it happen this generation, ''(hard)core'' games have made their decision by now and what si left is mostly mainstream gamers. It's possible to sell 5 million copies of Halo:Reach to new gamers but for that to happen Microsoft would need to win big time with Natal to increase it's marketshare. I dont see that happen but if it does then Halo:Reach can sell 15 million copies.

We need Halo 4 with the marketing power of Microsoft to sell 15 million.

well if any HD game can.. it's this one. Still, i dont think so.

This is the next big Halo installment.  Its not like ODST at all.  Its essentially Halo 4 with a different name.

I doubt it. I mean i hope its great and all but i highly doubt it will reach 15 million sales. even 10 million will be a stretch. Halo 3 will probably be the highest selling halo game because it was the MUCH ANTICIPATED conclusion to the Halo TRILOGY. While i have great hopes for Reach i just dont see it hitting 15M sales however for it to have a chance Microsoft needs to market the crap out of it. The ad campaign for ODST was crap compared to halo 3. M$ needs to market this game like the personal jesus christ of the xbox for it to even have a prayer of outselling halo 3

Microsoft certainly knows how to do good advertising when they want too. So the question for me is will Halo: Reach live up to the hype? If it does I have no doubts that it could reach 15 million in sells. An updated engine with much much better graphics and the same great game play? Who wouldn't want to upgrade to that?

Imagine the best looking game on the 360 and now imagine it being in the Halo verse, pure sales gold if that happens.

To be honest i think your overestimating the importance of graphics and sales. Think about it Killzone 2 which is the best looking FPS on any console, Had 5 years of  overwhelming hype for its visuals hasnt quite managed to crack the 2M mark. clearly graphics dont = sales.

Now that being said I think Halo Reach will sell well if marketed as Halo 4 and has Master Chief in it. Graphics will definatly help but they wont make it an Automatic 15M+ selling game. In the End the game needs to be an AMAZING experience and have the best marketing microsoft can possibly do for it to have a prayer at 15M sales.

Thats why I said it has to have the same great game play + the graphics. If it doesn't add something more than what you get with ODST or Halo 3 fewer people will buy it. I personally don't mind Halo 3's graphics but I won't lie and say I wouldn't love to see much better.

I am pretty sure Bungie will deliver on the "experience". They haven't let me down so far.

Well before ODST Bungie hadnt let me down and because of that im definatly still willing to blindly throw $60 out for halo reach. But if i get burned again like i did with ODST ill think twice about it next time. But in all honesty im expecting a great game its had a very long development time and i love the book The Fall of Reach. All i can say is this game better not suck. + im not gonna lie amazing graphics for halo would be awesome

I very much disagree. Ten million will not be the stretch but almost a given for the sales of Reach. You have to understand that Microsoft knows what it is doing advertising Halo. You say ODST's campaign was crap, yet it still has outsold what was expected of the expansion. It knew the type of fan that would purchase it (a.k.a. the hardcore Halo fan) and it pandered to that denominator. Also to be fair, I think ODST still has some legs on it, especially when the Beta for Reach is finally announced.

If Bungie really is rebuilding the engine, and promises an epic campaign, then all it has to do is be remotely smart with marketing and it will succeed. Keep in mind that the multiplayer for Halo 3 will probably NOT be compatible with Halo: Reach due to the different engine builds, so it will force almost every Halo fan TO switch to the new game. Then you have factored in that sales numbers do not reflect pre-owned purchases, and you would have to think that you have a ton of fans out there willing to purchase the new game.
