A fair amount of standardization of development process and tools that make it easier to develop games and at less cost is good for the industry and for me, as a consumer.
Not sure how gaming industry feels about the following, but I definitely don't like all this hype and rush for popular trends like downloadable content, digital distribution, user-generated content, multimedia functionality etc. without thinking first; sometimes pointless over- and meta- 'featurization' of gaming that feels a lot like more of the same; gaming without conceptual alternative. That's too much of standardization of gaming medium for me.
I'd like if Ninty would keep it 'alternative' for a while.
