"Miyamoto needs to be put in the window seat, like Gunpei Yokoi"...?
I find that remark tasteless.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

How? What did he write that gave you that impression? This has to be at least the fifth time I've seen someone on here express that impression of him. What I think is going on is that some Nintendo fans have been been treating everything he says as the gospel truth and now that he's expressing unfavorable opinions and analysis of Nintendo's business it's no longer to Nintendo fan's advantage to treat his material that way. Now he's a "old school, nostalgic, random, blogger, who, doesn't know anything about games". Well, he is the same guy who was rooting for Nintendo back when it looked like they were starting a revolution. His only mistake was thinking that Nintendo was serious about it. |
I noticed that also. I haven't seen Malstrom change one bit. He's still up the ass about disruption and Blue Ocean strategy, and he's as black and white as ever in what is right and wrong. I really think many people were only happy that he was in Nintendo's corner and weren't really paying attention to him. I must admit I thought he was quite the fanboy for a while and figured he was always creating things to place Nintendo into a good light. Obviously that's not the case.
I don't agree with Miyamoto retiring, but he brings up some good points, and frankly this is exactly what all of his pro-Nintendo shit sounded like also. It was cocky and brash and Nintendo fans supported it and ate it up until he turned on them.
Remember when this guy was praised for taking the unfavorable position and predicting success for the Wii when everyone else said it would fail? He based that on the same principles and lessons that is now telling him that Nintendo is doing something wrong. Maybe he's right or maybe he's wrong, but for those of you that listened to him before, why shut him out now? Why not actually pay attention to what he says? He is after all the one analyst that got it right.

That would be the OP. Can't believe he actually posted that.

I didn't you paraphrased which I find tasteless sense you could have very easily used square brackets to show it.
Also, you're just mad because I'm not hero worshiping Miyamoto like everyone else.

You didn't post it? Who posted the OP of this thread then? Or is that a Malstrom thing too? If so, then it's just a confusing post, 'cos it definitely looks like you wrote it, gave your own opinion, and posted Malstrom's text, in the quote-block underneath. It even says "I think I'll have to agree with Malstrom here". then a bit down you agree again and proceed to give the link to the original article. So you mean to tell me you did not write the first part of that post? Ah well. My point still stands.
And I'm not mad. Don't get all your feathers in a bunch, you're terribly defensive you know. I just pointed out that I find a remark about how a person "should be put in a window seat" like another person who tragically died in a car accident very tasteless. I think the majority of people here would agree. It doesn't have anything to do with whether it's Miyamoto, or a bum in the street, or the emperor of the world, you just don't say these things.
I could care less if you or anyone agrees with Malstrom or not, whatever, it's just that one comment about how Miyamoto should suffer the same fate Yokoi did, that's just wrong.

That's stupid. I never said anything about the guy dieing in a car accident.
I think you are mad; you just don't want to admit that it's because I'm not hero worshiping Miyamoto so you bring up the fact that gunpei yokoi is deceased to plaster me.

Look just admit you committed a faux pas in forgetting that Gunpei Yokoi's career was ended by a tragic car accident and that you made an unwitting allusion to it, then we can all be on our way.
I think I agree. I mean Miyamoto hasn't made a GREAT new IP (such as Zelda or Mario) since before I was born. I don't think he should retire but maybe move to a consulting position or something.
