Hmmm, this should be in the sales forum but "twesterm" closed the only first day sales thread in the correct section because this thread existed in the Sony forum? How about people interested in first day sales of non-Sony games?

It's also annoying that people's replies from that thread weren't merged into this thread and were just nuked even though they were posted in good faith in the only thread on this topic in the sales forum.

I think either this thread needs to be moved to the sales forum or the other thread needs to be re-instated.

Anyway, here's what I posted in that thread;

Excellent start for Uncharted 2, the big Western games do decent numbers in Japan. COD:MW sold about three times as much as Uncharted, and the Best version has sold about three times as much too, even selling twice as much as Uncharted (5.7k vs 3.1k) the week prior to Uncharted 2 release.

COD:MW2 releases December 10, and after FFXIII and WE2010 I don't see many bigger titles releasing for PS3 this year (possibly Tekken). I'm expecting it to do 100k+ first week with 200k+ LTD on PS3. Including Xbox version 300k LTD could be a possibility.

Nice start for Okami, and actually pretty nice sell through % for nearly all titles this week.

Honestly, the placement of the thread isn't all that important. I can see why he did (Uncharted in the thread title) but you're right in that it should have been in sales forum. Not that big of a deal though.

I'm also glad to see Undead Knights is selling alright, I don't know why this game is getting shitty reviews, I played the demo and loved it, can't wait to pick this one up alone with Jak&Daxter for my PSP.

Actually lots of games get a second shipment first week in Japan, with a 70% first day sell through this game should too.

I'm not really complaining about this thread being in the Sony section, it does seem dedicated to Uncharted 2 sales afterall. My complaint was that "twesterm" locked the first day sales thread in the sales section because it was a "dupe" of this thread.

i was kind of expecting it to do well in Japan because the first one had such good legs and best price versions sold quite well. It was unknown then but now it is starting to build up a following hence it doing higher first week this time.

It even has a shot of selling better than Halo 3 (Which IIRC is best selling western shooter in Japan ? ).

@Zlejedi: COD4 is the best selling western shooter in Japan, as far as i know.

COD4 PS3: LTD 180.000 copies, Last week 6.000 copies
COD4 X360: LTD 110.000 copies, Last week 3.500 copies

Resistance: LTD 140.000 copies
Halo 3: LTD 120.000 copies 

COD:MW and Resistance have both sold quite a lot more than Halo 3 in Japan. Anyway, I don't think it's correct to put Uncharted in the same genre as FPS games, if we do that then we might aswell include GTA, which has sold a lot more than any western FPS in Japan.
