Forums - Sony - Good deal on playstation 3 80 gig...

Sony has a deal right now if you sign up for a credit card, you get $100 off a Playstation 3. That means get an 80 gig with motorstorm for $399. The 40 gig isn't on there yet but if that is what you are looking for and they hold the $100 deal for 3 weeks or so, you'll be able to snatch a 40 gig for $299... I'm assuming the 5 blue rays are also included in this deal and if they are, that is a helluva deal.

I have already read the terms and conditions on the credit card. The interest rate isn't very good and if you default, the interest rate is huge. Don't buy it if you can't afford to pay it off immediately. Buy it, pay it off, and shuf off the card if you have no self control.

that would be awesome a 299 ps3 (hopefully) but it sucks that im not old enough to get a credit card.....

It seems that the $100 discount will apply to any qualifying purchase. The "qualified purchase" is defined as any line item $299 or greater. It doesn't currently have an expiration so I suspect it will be in place for a while and hence a 40 gig will be available as well.

$299 for a blu-ray player that just happens to play next-gen games.... sweet deal indeed...

Well, this isn't a PS3 specific deal. It's a credit card deal for anything on the Sonystyle store so it's not as desperate as you think. And this deal has been around for at least six months, but a lot of people aren't aware of it.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

I don't think it's desperation at all. It is to get people using the card and to "forget" they have a balance. Interest can add up fast.... It's also through a third party -- citi I think and I'm sure citi is eating some or all of that cost...
