Forums - Gaming - Is EVERYBODY on NeoGAF narrow-minded?

I've never been there. Why would you name your site NeoGaf anyway?

I mean to me that tranlates into "New Mistake" in my head. Granted it's missing an f but it'd be pronounced the same way i'd imagine.

Was there an old "Gaf" too or are they just anime fans. Anime writers love to throw Neo infront of everything.

GAF = Games Are Fun

Wasn't it ioi's problem with Neogaf that spawned his ambition to create VGchartz?

Saying an entire forum is narrow-minded is quite narrow-minded.

I post both there and here, as do others I'm sure. Both sites have good qualities and bad qualities. There's no need to turn it into an "us vs them" thing.

Kasz216: It's "NeoGAF" (note capitalization).  The word you are thinking of is spelled "gaffe"...

LOL @ Onimusha12's mod reviews above. Are these up on Modrankings.com?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Yeah, i get that it stands for something, but they could of named it anything.  It reminds me of Futurama's "Fathers Against Rude Television."

Besides which i'm mostly certain that "are" should not have a letter.  You don't do it for is or of either.

Sorry, DKII, but you're not one to talk there, with your post in that NPD thread.

Then again, I can't say much either, I was posting when I was too tired yesterday, and I said something a mod already said to drop, so I got myself a week vacation from there. (my fault, not theirs)

Yeah, there are a lot of prissy people on NeoGAF, but there are some great people as well. I can say the same for here. :o

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Well, I didn't want to say the WHOLE membership over there. But there's a lot of guys who just don't seem to get it over there. They got Pachter vision is what I'm trying to say. Even a NeoGAFer I read said NeoGAF isn't the best place for predictions. I'm not trying to start a war between sites. That's a waste of time.

I like the place which is why I head over there just to watch the NPD sales poster-made pictures. They just amuse me when they don't see the big picture sometimes. What is an alpha mom? And what is a soccer mom? Who came up with this mess? Should we call Al Bundy and check out the influence of the Psycho Dads? Hahahahaha! I loved watching their bewilderment at how Wii was toe to toe with 360 despite the monster launch and impact of Halo 3 on that system's sales.

A paraphrase of something that would be said over there:

"No 'real' Wii launches in September and it almost matched 360 under Halo 3 power with a one month old game????"

I'm like what?! Hahahahaha. Metroid Prime 3 was never going to significantly boost hardware. And all sales significance can't be determined solely off of top ten lists.

And there was one guy over there who was crossing off what could be counted as 3rd party game significance looking like he marked out nearly every possibility to the point where one could mark off all possibilities using his logic. A kind of arrogance to it, you know? And I'm like where is this guy's head at?

Over here I guess it's a more international base of users so a broader understanding exists here where people can at least smell the possibilities. Over there they just can't seem to see beyond the fog. Many of them not all of them. Good comedy for me either way it turns out anyhow!

John Lucas

P.S.: I feel what you're saying, magera. I think that has some influence on it.

Words from the Official VGChartz Idiot

WE ARE THE NATION...OF DOMINATION!

Again, internet mate. Comes with the territory. You want to know what most of Wii60’s members response to that free coin pre-order gift for Mario Galaxy was? They complained. They should give us more, they’re should be a special edition. A free bonus is announced for pre-ordering a popular game, and they complain about it. It’s why I don’t work there anymore, since most of the mods just like to whine about something or another, or promote their own idiotic agendas.

That and typically people on the internet don’t exercise much restraint since there’s no consequences to shooting your mouth off other than looking stupid, and you can just ignore people who think you look stupid. =P
