What the hell are they gonna put on all that space? Maybe a whole TV series or something but that's it. Games aren't using 100+gb yet.

The internets is full of FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt). If the PS3 can't cope with those new capacities, neither can any other BR player of its generation.

The funny thing is, you are judging the discs as if the GB are the same as a DVD GB. Also Earth was supposed to ship on a single quad layer blu-ray disc, but since not EVERY blu-ray player could be upgraded they decided not to.(Technically every-blu-ray has the capacity to be upgraded through firmware, but a very small margin, around 5% of the BR players are not internet combatible).

You can fit 4.5 hours of 1080p content on a single layer DVD. So 300 minutes. A single DVD holds 120 minutes of 480 content, and a DL disc(which most movies come on now adays) holds 240 minutes. 50 GB disc holds 9 hours, or about 600 minutes.

Now one is going to want a 9 hour movie, or even a 18 hour movie in contrast to 100gb disc, but thats not what we are doing.

Language packs, movies will come with up to 10 languages, and subtitles etc. They will come with comentary, and even different versions of a movie, from european release, to theatrical, to uncut, to cut. Stuff like that adds up pretty quickly. What about seasons of shows? Normally they come on more then 1 disc. Why put something on 2 single layers if it can fit on a 50 gig? It costs more, and it also costs more to put it on 2 50 gig discs then 1 100gig disc. 13 one hour episode seasons, 26 half hour seasons, and include stuff like special features etc? Why waste money on 2 50 gig discs, when for a fraction more put it on a 100gig disc? All current BD players can read them... Except for that small percentage without BD live, though there is a return and get a new one for those models(They take the BD live incombatable models, salvage drive and produce newer players).

thats retarded the next gen of movies wont be on disc it will be digital thats what cd's gone too and so will movies and once that happens fre movies like the fre music !

There wont be a 100gig game this gen, even if Sony changed the drives in the PS3.

Theres been 2 games that use 50gigs. Once more developers start uysing the full blu-ray disc, then Sony might discuss it, but they'll probably just put it in the next PS (PS4).

I certainly would buy one if it hit $150.  That's just a golden price point.  By that time, the amount of games that will already be available not to mention that they will be costing around $15 to $20 by then too.  I tried a lot of PS2 games like this and some were titles I would have never looked twice at when they were $50.  Hell, I still buy a N64 game once in a while when I come across something I haven't played and want to try out.  Just bought Shadows of the Empire (or something like that) early this year on eBay for $4 I think.  I always liked Turok so I got the games I didn't have before on eBay for cheap.  I'm in no rush to buy a PS3 and Uncharted 2 right now.  I can be patient.  But I will be playing the hell out of it when I see my nephew this winter.  He would bring his game system with him for 2 weeks and we play like crazy on it.  Last one we played was COD4 on it and it was pretty damn good.  And the one where we kept fighting with Subzero and Joker.  That one's a lot of fun.
