@theo

you "prefer" it when games get delayed.?... thats just spin.

I totally agree. Does any gamer want to wait 5 years for a game to be finished? A small delay is given more leniency than waiting for years.

edit: BTW theo, Assassin's Creed was not shit

        GT5 can only hope they get the 7 million purchases that AC did in 2 years less development time.

I never quite grasped the concept of how a game can be "delayed" when it never got a release date.

holy shit...the GT tiger has been let loose out of the cage...and can strike any time...creating a rotting carcass of any racing game on the market.

Seriously though, any game can be released at any time. Making it good is the tricky part, and that is what PD is doing right now with GT5

@kowenicki

I think his point is he would rather see the game delayed than rushed.

Having said that, I also think this is an obvious point that doesn't add anything to the debate.  But I agree... btw.

Could be they are just trying some of the same tactics Sony did back when the 360 was released. Keep telling people the things finished, its the baddest racing sim ever and is almost ready to be released in order to keep people from crossing over to F3.

In the real world people have deadlines and budgets, I guess Poly doesn't live in the real world. Lucky them.

thats not the point...theo prefers a delay... i mean... wtf? prefers it!

Oh...lol, I didn't pay much attention to that (blame fatigue). Yeah, that's a messed up thing to say, especially when the reasoning is that it shows they have "adequate funding". Although I was a little disappointed that GT5 wasn't releasing this December, since I love Gran Turismo, I don't mind the wait if they really want to polish things out, even if I've been waiting for a long time already. Plus, with Forza Motorsport 3 around the corner, I'll manage.

I do not think this has anything to do with modern gamers being moaners. This is more about a game that should of been in the hands of gamers one maybe even two years ago.

Turn 10 for all their pompous talk have managed to pump out 2 high quality console sim racers and they have done this without the pedigree of PD.

PD needs to look at its business model again, because developing games costs money you have to release them to actually make money.

PD did release Tourist Trophy, GT5P and GT PSP as well.

I confess I have never heard of Tourist Trophy but GT5P does that really count?

Tourist Trophy was a Motorcycle racing sim for the PS2.

And yeah GT5P it should count since they had to put it together like it was its own complete game, and had as much content as some racing games.

I disagree. GT5P had 5 tracks which is not as much content as any good racing sim game that I know of.

Also, GT5P was released in April, 2008 which means it has taken 2 more years to finish developing this game (which you say they put together like it was its own complete game) into a real full game. That is not acceptable business acumen for most video game companies.

How would you know what is acceptable.   GT5P sold well enough that it probably funded the entire GT5 project.   Plus they were still working on GT PSP, did you forget about that game?

- it never had a release date, so it was not delayed.

- better delay then a rush job.

- asscreed sucks ass, GT5 will destroy its sales rather quickly.

- no one sure as hell some kids on a forum know just how long GT5 has been in development so seriously STFU about it. All this 5 year bs just show how ignorant you are.

So how exactly do you know it hasn't been in development for 5 years if no one knows? :P

Honestly Gt4 released in 2004 they did tourist trophy and gt psp.

Just becuase the last game was 5 years ago does not make it instantly 5 years of development.

@Samer305

Actually GT4 released in 2005, and it had a 4 years development cycle, on the same console that they released GT3.

@Everyone complaining

I don't know why people are complaining so much, since it's not like PD haven't worked in other games in the past 5 years.

Since GT4 we have had:

Tourist Trophy
GT5:P
GTPSP

And next year we will have GT5, so that will make 4 games in 5 years. You still want to complain about a company that makes 4 (3 games if you don't count GT5:P) in 5 years?.
