Shh, dont tell MikeB this. He'll swear that "TruHD" is only 1080 verticle lines, even though the standard says otherwise.
Do you want us to give you some possible reasons? That's all we can do when the game is still in development. A possible reason might be:- they decided to do some improvements in the graphical engine, but realized that they caused framerate problems when ran at 1080p. After some testing, they realized that those improvements were worth it even at the expense of reduced resolution, so they went for it.
