Have any of you played either of these games? I used to be big into the Live series but the past few live games I have played I have been disappointed. Have they done better this year?

I have the 2k series and been an avid fan of 2k for a while now. I can't speak on nba live but I can tell you what 2k got right this year. It feels more like a basketball sim now more than ever. The my player mode is simply amazing. The feeling of completing certain task in game only controlling your character and fighter for minutes is amazing. It has some technical issues but like years past they will iron those out with future patches. If you looking for a good b-ball sim 2k is where it's at. I've abandoned live about 4 years ago and haven't looked back. try an older version of 2k. maybe 2k08 to get a feel for what 2k is all about without dropping the 60 bones for the newest version.

Sweet, I own 2k8, I had NBA Live 08 but I returned it for some reason.
Well that is all I need to hear so I'll probably pick 2k10 up, once the price goes down though.

yea it'll be good to wait there is some tech issues they need to fix. one of the things they put in was to bring up the leading scorers and teams during your game. Well sometimes that stat screen gets stuck on the screen and can really mess up you flow while you are playing.

Ah ok, that sounds fairly easy to fix with a patch. I just started playing NBA 09: The Inside again and it got me in the mood for a good basketball game.

OMG...there is no comparison between 2k and live anymore......2k is the undisputed king right now.

oh and the soundtrack is top notch the best its ever been.

NBA Live is not even up for comparison. NBA 2K10 is much improved over last year's version, but the players ratings are lower...

However, the game is leagues above Live and the definitive basketball game. Makes me wonder what would happen to Football if it wasn't held in exclusivity with EA SPorts & Madden. Probably could outperform that series too.

^I agree, I used to play Madden as well but it's just not as fun as last gen.

I can't even play madden anymore it sucks so bad. The last gen was the good ol days for football games. Do you remember when 2k dropped a 20 dollar football game.
