"they don't go around badmouthing the competition"

I love naughty dog. Best developers out there.
They did an amazing job and being humble about their success shows that they're a class act!!! I wish them all the best and hope the game sells millions for them, they deserve it!!!
deathbleachnarutodbz said:Naughty Dog: We did not expect the critical reception we're getting![]() There's a saying that deems humble people as the most successful. They don't brag about what they've accomplished, they don't go around badmouthing the competition, and they certainly don't imitate. The Naughty Dogs have demonstrated their humbleness, even as they bask in the praise of rave reviews for the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
You'd think after creating such a genre defining experience that they'd have anticipated this was coming. Well according to Naughty Dog's Travis McIntosh, this sentiment could not be further from the truth. Speaking today in a live chat with the Official Playstation Blog, he said:
"We knew we had something special while working on the game, but did we expect the critical recognition we've been getting? No, when you're as close to a game as we are it's far easier to see the flaws than the full picture. It wasn't until near the end when the story and the cut scenes finally came together that we realized that the game was as good as it was?"
On an entirely different note, Neil Druckmann later added "We love that so many girls enjoy Uncharted..... it's part of our motivation in creating such strong, well-rounded female characters."
You can indulge here, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is now available. Can't make your mind up yet? Read our full review, no bias, but you'll be convinced.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Uncharted, I'm digging Uncharted 2, and they totally deserve all the praise they're getting, but come on, anyone who says that everything from the Uncharted series isn't a blatant rip-off of another game or movie is fooling themselves.
Again, nothing wrong with that since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, just wanted to point that out.
Who gives a fuck if it heavily draws inspiration from other games or movies?
Can't comprehend it. Kickass visuals, narrative and gameplay.
Don't see how its supposed lack of originality really matters, when it plays as well as it does.

Like I said, it's still a great game and I don't actually care that they drew heavily from other games, I was just pointing out the error in the article.
Just wanna say bravo to Naughty Dog for making this wonderful game.

Your opinion is quite interesting because every game from Metal Gear Solid-Halo was first concieved as a thought. Then that thought as it goes into design is 'influenced' by popular culture (movies, music, etc). So really all things considered your statement should have also included "all games" instead of just uncharted. But let me say this, though I can agree with you to a certain extent, but really has there ever been a game of this superior quality that has "not" benefited from a past great idea? Really when you make a statement like this you need to first take that into consideration. Let Uncharted get its just due before we try and dog a game that obviouly deserves every bit of praise it is receiving +1.
