I'm going to sell my old TV but I need to know about what to ask for it first though.  I obviously don't want to rip someone off and the TV is used but in good condition, so about what is this TV worth?

I bought the TV new for about $1,200-1,300 and I was thinking about $300 is fair...

I would say about 3-4 years old I think but it's still in good condition, it just can't do 1080p.

I'm probably going to try to sell it to someone at work and try to sell it quick so I wanted something that was a low price and not try to gouge them (I just don't trust places like Craigs List where I could get more).

^Well then I say $500, if it's originally $2,200 then your still getting one hell of a deal at $500.

$300 seems so cheap that there must be something wrong with it, if I knew you I'd buy it in a second for that price, 1080p really isn't that big of a difference from 720p.

I mean it is 40 inches.  400-500 seems about fair.  Cheapest you can get a 40' HD tv is like... 700... and likely not as nice.

A similar refubrished model at best buy that does 1080p goes for about 700... and hardly anyone will care about 1080P.
