I'm still on the fence about this one. I don't like Jack Black so my question is How important is Mr Black's performance in the game? It's a huge part of it or just a little touch?

Main character, in the story all the time. I personally didn't think he overdid it tbh.

When I played the demo, it was too much ' swing one's axe / now loading / cut scene / now loading / play guitar / now loading / cutscene / now loading.

Action is butchered between too many cutscenes

Is it to the same level Metal Gear Solid has reached?  Due to the number of cut scenes, MGS is seen as a masterpiece of storytelling and a game.

daaaayyyuuum Gonna have to trie the demo, see what all the fuss is about.

I've just finished the game myself.. the game is a bit all over the place imho. doesn't do hack&slash very well, doesn't do RTS very well either...

Ok, I am disappointed then.  I was hoping the RTS side would be worthwhile.

I was surprised at how good it ended up looking. Won't buy, but it's great that people have another awesome game to choose from!

The only thing I know about Tim Schaffer is Psychonauts.
Holy crap I loved that game! I should probably play something else of him.

Grim Fandango is his best story/humor wise, but these days I warn you the gameplay will feel outdated. It's a P&C game that doesn't use a mouse.

Well... it has to be better than most of Jack's recent movies.

Kung Fu Panda and Tropic thunder were funny as hell

I wouldn't care if reviewers got a burr in their ass over the graphics and glitches and gameplay and it ended up averaging a 6.5, I'd still buy it because it's Tim Schafer. ....Writing for Jack Black.

It is good to identify with a fellow fan, but on that note you will understand if I do not give a crap about problems. Psychonauts is still one of my favorite games, and it is almost brutally flawed.

I'm buying it too... just saying it's not a 9 game, objectively, in any way. Look: There's a difference between your favorite game, and the best game ever made. There are standards of quality development that this game is clearly lacking. Again, I love Tim Schafer, and I will buy this game, but as a piece of software, it has major quality issues that are easily visible.

Bearing in mind that I am someone for whom positive qualities can transcend the problems created by flaws, you will understand if I am less worried than you about the blemishes marring the face of something whose other features I find immaculate. There is no objective measure of total quality: I will bear this discussion in mind for future conversations, but I will judge, for myself, whether or not the game is a 9.

Subjectively, of course.

Hell, Psychonauts was a 9, no reason this can't be that good...

So, if the gameplay is flawed, you would still consider it a 9 or above, just because schafer's name is attached to it? Or am I reading this wrong?
