Well regardless of how low your standards are there are still objective measures of quality. There aren't objective measures of how fun the game will be for an individual though.

That's your opinion as in it's subjective not objective. In my opinion the quality is great and the problems are minor.

Technical issues are not subjective. You may like the gameplay better than me, but the fact that it's not a well-programmed game is not a debatable fact.

Based on the demo I'm buying this game for sure, I thought it was great fun and had a lot of style.  Axe work looked to get repetitive, but the style/story sold me on it anyway. That is completely my subjective opinion and I understand that, wouldn't try to convince anyone anyway.

My question to you though is what about the technical flaws have you grading it so much harsher than IGN?  Your comments lead me to believe that there are so many technical flaws it could not possibly be rated higher than an 8 (I *think* you said that), yet IGN, who I consider to be relatively thoughtful and consistent reviewers disagree with you (on that aspect).

So I'm really looking for more information from you hear (honestly): what is so bad about in your opinion?

For the record, I played the whole demo (it was short) on the 360.

Or maybe your standards are too high?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The technical problems are so bad that to say they are minor is an indication of very low standards, but apparently they aren't bad enough to make it less than an 8.

IGN is consistently high on review scores IMO.

I said it was a low 8s game, which is a great game, just with some major flaws. A 9 is a nearly perfect game, in all aspects, not just the style and presentation

Technical flaws I noticed were slowdown, screen tearing, and extensive and frequent loading screens.

@ ckmlb: you're looking at it wrong. Nazna is merely saying that the game can be insanely fun, but as a technical achievement, it lacks certain things (such as glitches, which I will confirm, having played the full version).

Aside from that, there are gameplay issues that detract from the score. A 9 is high for this game.

I didn't question your opinion as you have played hte full game but his comments were only about the demo and having technical glitches which I didn't say it didn't have either, but I did say that minor technical issues do not bring down my total experience much to which he claimed my standards are low because they are different than his own.

And even the effect of technical glitches on a player is subjective because Mass Effect had many more technical problems than the demo of this game had and I consider that one of my favorite games.

Your assessments sound fair for what you saw, and it's cool that you would rate it lower; I'll be honest though, outside of very minor slow-down at one time during the demo (strangely it was not during a major battle but right after you first get your guitar), I did not notice any consistent slow-down or screen tearing.  To be fair, I also wasn't looking for those things either, and they didn't jump out at me.  As far as loading screens, I'm not really sure what you are talking about here...apparently I need to go play the demo again!

you cant jump :O

The only thing I know about Tim Schaffer is Psychonauts.
Holy crap I loved that game! I should probably play something else of him.
