Oh, past self, if only you had known how disappointed your future self would be.

You know, its really fun to imagine your avatar saying all the things you write.
In this very slow, monotonous tone.

| lestatdark said: For those saying that most JRPG's have teen melodrama's as stories, I just ask you, have you played Final Fantasy XII, Parasite Eve, Dragon Quest V, Shadow Hearts or Panzer Dragoon Saga? Because the storywritting in those games is comparable to even the greatest and classical books that exist... |

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

He speaks the truth, you'd be a fool if you didnt agree
Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.
"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Sometimes I want to lock people like this up in a room with a chair and a stack of classic literature until they come to their senses.
Now is one of those times.

I've read classical literature, I've read a ton of books within my lifetime and I can safely say I've also played some games that is on par if not better than some of them

If you ever try to question my literary aptitudes then I'll make sure that I embarass you till hell comes knocking at your door.
I've read everything from John Milton's Paradise Lost, to Dostoyesky Crime and Punishement, Kafka's Amerika, Jose Saramago Blindness and The Stone Raft, Eça de Queiroz The Maias, Sartre Le Age d'raison...do you want me to continue or shall we take this a step further?
Any time you even wish to insult someone, at least have to decency to ask the person if what they said is based on their personal experience.

Many of them are actually fun, and have a story. Unlike many many many other games.
I agree with this thread. I just dont understand how people can like this genre.
My understanding of JRPGs is that they are:
- linear
- have arena fights
- have Manga people and children, which I find no attraction in
- their settings, worlds and chracters feel very artificial and cheezy
- their stories are childish and overly melodramatic

Seriously? Yeah keep laughing at his face cuz he thinks something is good. It's not a matter of taste at all. Quality is just as objective as sales numbers, right?
Classic literature can be really good sometimes, and it can be some of the most boring shit ever. I'd rather read Sidney Sheldon than Dostoyevsky. To me it's better. Who are you to say what's superior? Get off your high horse.
