My scale of awesomeness:

'90s Disney>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Everything else>>>>>>>>M. Pachter>>>>>>>>>>Pixar

The Lion King is just EPIC, The Beauty and the Beast is the greatest romantic story ever.

If I would have to chose between the existence of old Disney, and your painful death (whoever you are), I would chose the former.

What the HELL?

Cartoons. Ruined. Forever.

No, Id say Pixar is doing a pretty good job. I dont feel the same about them cause I aint a kid anymore.

But I gotta say Wall-e got me pretty close sometimes.

Old Disney barely beats out New Disney with Pixar. The sad thing is, without Pixar, all Disney would have are these crappy direct to DVD sequels.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Old Disney beats the hell out of New Disney with Pixar.

Now shut up and go watch Cinderella.

Wall-e is fine, but only because it is totally different from the general Pixar style, that I hate.

Modern animated cartoons totally lack deeper emotions, that made old Disney grand and memorable.

Now there is no more romance, tension, sadness, singing, cuteness, and fear, just... silliness. And even more silliness. And some parental service.

I recently watched some old Disney movies that I missed as a child, and it is definitely not just nostalgia, because they are great, too. They actually treated their audience like adults, even if they were kids.

I'm also really hyped about "The Princess and the Frog", that seems to be a traditional drawn musical, based on a classic story, with only bearable amount of silliness.

Oh, sorry but Pixar puts a lot of emotions on their movies. Wall-e is full of it. So is Finding Nemo for example.

Wall-E is, as I said, a positive exception.

Finding Nemo is, in my opinion, one the first ones that started this formula of "the same funny talking characters, this time as toys/ants/cars/rats/fish, in a wacky adventure, with a basic one-liner moral added to it.

DO I need to get into prince charming - princess/girl who needs to be saved - evil witch and/or dragon - beautiful songs

Just because its cliche doesnt mean its bad
