2.AUTISM

As a person with Asperger's Syndrome I can assure you I would not like to be 'cured' of autism. You cannot separate me from my condition.

You don't think so? In that case, is there a noun you feel more representative of you than "a person with Asperger's Syndrome"? That description still implies some degree of separation.

I use the description only to indicate some of the difficulties I might have or to explain the cause of some of my actions. If you changed my personality and reactions to things with drugs or therapy then I wouldn't be me any more.
I think everyone is somewhere on the autistic spectrum, and I just happen to be further towards one end - Have you met anyone completely normal?
There are plenty of people for whom autism is debilitating and doesn't allow them to lead anything near a normal life. It's their decision whether they would accept a cure. But not everyone with autism wants such a thing or believes it would improve their lives. I'm not against people wanting to end suffering due to autistic traits, I just don't want everyone believing autism = bad.
