This whole thread was actually going to be just a reply to that thread (the halo 3 ranking thread) but it kept getting bigger and bigger, lol. I just made it into it's own thread.

That's pretty much how the threads i've made usually started... the three i've actually made upto now, lol 

clearly the people giving 10/10 with no reasoning are the enlightened unbiased one's

Giving a game 5 or 6 is not any different than giving it a 10.

In those threads i don't vote unless i have a positive score to give. Meaning 8-10.

erm welcome to life my friend ,this is a world where not everyone agrees with what you think , no matter how logical you think your reason is. 8 is not a low score out of 10. lets go off topic slightly , I really like oreos, id give them 10/10 on the biscitscale if i asked everyone else what do they think of it id expect answers from anything from 0-10 the result, what i got from my friends was 6/10 for oreos!!!! no way how can that be, there my favorite how dare it score so low , so i then looked into my friends houses and in their cupboards lay CHOCOLATE HOBNOBS i know it was these friends who rated my beloved oreros so low, they must have done it just to spite me!!!!!!!!! not because they don't agree and just prefer hobnobs more no!!! they did it to spite me

I really don't no where i was going with that :) but im sure you understand now, not everyone likes the same thing as you and not everyone will agree , it life

Of course they're downplaying the game compared to the X360 fans who in turn are overrating the game.

to be honest, I think its more a case of bitter fanboys whining because they cant face the fact that not everyone loves the same games they do

i could also say i like emeralds more than diamonds, that doesn't mean a diamond will be worth less than an emerald. you can't deny the quality of something even if you hate it.

example: i don't like MGS (i don't like shooters) but i know by the judgement of fellow vgchartz members, review scores from most major sites AND the opinion of almost everyone that it IS a quality game, i won't deny it :)  why do something like that to someone when it clearly hurts that person?

it may be positive for some games with lower standards/quality but an 8 is a very bad score when we're talking about highly acclaimed games by reveiwers standards and the majority of gamers opinions (unlike people who literally hate the franchise/console/genre of the game).

Oh not surprised if it does happen. I remember back on metacritic where fanboys were giving bad reviews to 360 and PS3 games in the reader review section to drop that score down. Just pathetic. People need to grow up.
