Germany Officially Changes Country Name to "GerSony", Berlin to Change to "Jelly Donut"

By: Hans Geschprectetmitihnengefelhterfehrnsehr

On the heels of the amazing sales brought about by the reinventing of the entire video game/social/world community with the new "Slim" model of the vaunted Playstation 3 video game/supercomputer/Matrix system, German Chancellor Franz "Franzer the Panzer" Helgenspeilerkatzehundenschulterngefehltenberger has made an executive decision regarding the nomenclature of his Vaterland. The decision was made late in the night last night, as "the Panzer" sat in his Schlafzimmer, playing his early copy of Uncharted 2 (Sony realeased review copies to all world leaders, hoping to get an endorsement from the newest Nobel laureate for umm . . . talking, Barack Obama) a revelation came to him to change his country to reflect the greatest company, consumer electronics device, and the greatest invention since the Tesla Coil (screw you Edison!). "Henceforth" said Franz between bites of Schitzel, "our country will be known as GerSony (Deutschonyland in the native tongue) and we will be the standard bearers to bring about a new world order of video gaming! Und keine Eier!" This announcement was met with much rejoicing as the millitary piled truckloads of Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii games outside of the Chancellor's offices and burned them in effigy. In a lesser, but related announcement, Berlin will officially be known as "Jelly Donut", to avoid confusion with visiting foreign dignataries.

Post of the year?

Yeah Sony is powerful in the smaller markets. This is the first gen that all the consoles are available in South Africa. I couldn't get: SNES, Saturn,N64,Dreamcast,Xbx before. The market has expanded LIKE CRAZY.

Because of Sony's previous commitment here, it's starting to own big time. BIG TIME.

Lol sorry but thats just rediculous. In every German Forum that would be a Lifetime Ban. What are you trying to say I am a Nazi ? Or what. Infact my Grandparents fought against Germany and my Grand Father is a War Hero which was with the british in North Africa. My Mom is from Czech and my Dad is from Cyprus.

And 99% of the Germans are no Nazis. So I am accepted even if I am not blonde and have no blue eyes.

C'mon don't be so supersensitive. Lifetime ban? You treat anything connected with nazi, Hitler etc.  as some kind of taboo... it's a part of your history after all.

Edit: I've heard even Wolfenstein is banned in Germany because of nazi symbols lol

Why VGChartz does not recognise that their estimates are WAY off for Germany and adjust it ? It's a shame.

I tought VGChartz was a serious website who does everything it can to be as accurate as possible. But it seems like it's not the case.  I'm beginning to think that they have absolutely no data for Europe (excluding UK) and that the numbers for Europe are just extrapoled using the data they have for UK. But UK is not representative of Europe.

End of '09 predictions :

Playstation 3 : 36M
Xbox 360 : 38M
Wii : 71M

Wow I didnt knew that PS3 was so strong here even before the slim ? I am stunned. the truth is I saw almost no Ps3 add in TV but a ton Wii adds a lot Xbox 360 adds and I always thought Germany is Wii Land. But maybe its more like in Japan because the last 3 month i saw mainly Handheld adds. Even a PSP Go Add and until now no PS3 Slim add.

In the thread there was one who said Germany game Market is bigger then UK. That was obviously wrong but. Some Months ago someone was asking which are the biggest markets in Europe I stated UK Germany France. The others corrected me and said Uk France Germany. But it seems that Germany is the second biggest market in Europe.

Germany has the biggest economy in europe :S just saying but dno bout the gaming industry there lol

I really hope that Vgc adjust the figures, this isnt the first time that the ps3 is undertracked and the 360 and wii are both overtracked and vgchartz doesnt do anything (like updating the numbers)

So we have a small descrepancy between Charttrack and Vchartz and lots of Sony fanboys immediately start demanding changes in the numbers. If ioi feels the numbers need to be adjusted he will do so.

30% is a small descrepancy? Man where do you work? If they consider 30% a small descrepency too I'd like to work the register. (40% in case of the 360)

"Hey, you are suppose to have 100 dollars in here. it's only 60."

"It's okay thats just a small descrepancy"

"Yeah, what's 40 dollars"

"3/4ths of a new video game tee hee"

Yes, it is a small descrepancy on the total numbers. Which btw are not mentioned here, so even if PS3 was undertracked the last 2 months and the other 2 platforms were overtracked the opposite could still be true for life to date numbers. Also there is no specific period mentioned in the article, so which weeks are in these August and September numbers? For Wii for instance it makes a pretty  big difference whether last week (first week of the price cut) was included or not.

I'm kind of skeptical of these figures..why then on PAL charts do we often see the 360 version of multiplatform games only one or two spots behind the PS3 one? Even Germany and even France?

For example, Germany week 40:

(__) 01 PS3 FIFA 10
(__) 02 XBox 360 FIFA 10
(__) 03 PS2 FIFA 10
(02) 04 PS3 Need for Speed: Shift
(03) 05 DS Professor Layton und die Schatulle der Pandora
(04) 06 Wii Wii Sports Resort
(__) 07 PSP FIFA 10
(01) 08 XBox 360 Halo 3: ODST
(05) 09 XBox 360 Need for Speed: Shift
(07) 10 Wii Mario Kart Wii

So ODST got #1 in week 39 there, and Fifa 10 was only one spot behind the PS3 one. And there were actually more 360 games in the top 10.

I just wouldn't expect 360 software to do so well with these numbers

Anyways this is the slims first month. We see the month before PS3 only beat 360 by 23k, which will not make much difference on the worldwide scale. France and distantly, Spain are the only other major markets in EU besides UK and Germany.
