First sentence so? Second yeah that would work VC would be a great game to put in that setting when i think about it.. |
Less involved, less talked about, less thought about, less educated about school (also counts for Europe maybe not the UK) less interesting to make a game about;..While FPS war games comes especially from USA.
And now we are talking about wars....I want a war game about the civil war in USA. It is in my opinion the most interesting stuff in USA's history but also probably a very sensitive one to make a game about...Especially if the South will get portrayed as evil (something that would happen).
^If you're up to getting old PC games running, there's Sid Meier's two games on Gettysburg and Antietam.
I'd love a WW1 FPS, it wasn't all trench warfare the English and Belgians held back the Germans in woodland areas for a while, there where plenty of battles before it got to the trenches and Id like to see them in a game and as for the weapons they weren't much different from WW2 rifles and they still had machine guns (granted it took a fair few people to operate)

Hitler thought in WW1 infact you might say he was the biggest Nazi of them all
(he was the only one from his devision to survive and he nearly died from shrapnel in a bomb blast, just think how differet things could have been if he'd have died there and then)

Also if he hadn't been rejected by The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, think how things would have been different...

yeah he got rejected by a jew from the academy which also started fueling his hate. But really it would make a good game people who think it was just in the trenches and that they had crap guns are competley wrong.

I think this says it pretty much. But if you think about it, its more interesting than 90% of the MMORPGs out there. And pretty much summerizes the standard 'back and forth' gameplay of a lot of FPS shooters out there (you get killed, wait for the round to end, you respawn and repeat).
The real reason there aren't many WWI based games is simply because WWII is more interesting to people and WWI was more of the 'European' war. There's a reason its called the 'last great war'. Because it was the last war to use conventional tactics (such as trench warfare as a standard, horseback fighting, fighting for 'honor', etc). These ideals fit much more into an older style of gaming, and its much like we don't see a number of games based on the Nepoleonic Wars or Civil War becoming popular....people just don't want to become a pawn in a group of thousands lining up to be killed.
Now if you improved on the concept, such as making it into a FPS/MMO concept. Maybe adding both Melee and ranged weapons (swords and guns) and didn't have the 'realism' of dying in one hit. Made the war serve a purpose and not just last 3 years without any clear side gaining any advantage....then the game would be interesting and people would probably like it. But then...it wouldn't be a WWI game.
