Forums - General - Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

Erm...he doesn't deserve it imo. People who worked their whole lives to achieve this award...all of their extraordinary efforts seem like a joke now.

No they didn't and no they don't.

People worked their whole lives to improve humanity and their efforts seem exceptional. Whether they are, or are not, recognised by this prize is in my opinion irrelevant to how great their works are.

Oh well, at least now Obama has actually accomplished something!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

This is very stupid,I mean, yeah, he seems a nice guy and maybe can do stuf later, but as of now he hasnt done anything.

When they gave the award to Henry Kissinger, this prize shouldnt be taken seriously anymore.

This is just hilarious. Just more proof of idealogues giving eachother props.

The Nobel peace prize lost grip on all reality as soon as they gave it to Jimmi Carter...and then to Al Gore...what did either of these people do that actually promoted peace?

Jimmy Carter did a lot.  Jimmy Carter's "Carter Center" has funded numerous programs to eliminate disease and hunger in areas where such things could lead to violence.

He also was sent on many peace missions by both Bush and Clinton where he ended up achiveing some good outcomes.

Many of those were to bolster his appaerance and push propoganda. And Al gore?

While the sceince of the IPCC is EXTREMLY questionable the general hysterical fear of global warming has caused countries that would never talk to each other to talk to each other.

Yes, but out of fear, that is hardly a peaceful method, and his pushing of global warming has not caused peace, if anything, it has served to polorize factions and create less peace among people of apposing view points.

Fear wasn't above Alfred Nobel.  I mean look at Dynamite.  Or rather... what it was supposed to be.

yes, but the guilt from creating it is what caused him to fund the Nobel peace prize.
