biased much?

looking at your list tells me you don't know much about PS3 ;)

How so when I stated holiday line-up.  I was not talking about the game library/functionality to each console, simply on the marketing messages that the companies will communicate over the holidays.

So you're saying that actually someone could pick up a 360 over PS3 to play South Park off XBL? :)

And then not consider blu-ray, free game hosting, etc.?

Well again, it goes back to my point about the marketing messages.  Now you may be right with the Blu-Ray functionality; (Although you can get a Blu Ray player for sub $200 now) however, Sony and Microsoft will be advertising new titles and new offers for the 2009 holiday season.  You may have noticed the Uncharted 2 commercials for example.  So based on what is or will be advertised and based on what consumer perception will be based off of this, I think the 360 will sell more.

I live in Europe. An ad in NA =/= to an ad worldwide. Here where I live, many people will check specs of a console and what it incorporates to determine what to buy. Marketing campaigns will only serve to point out highlights. Right now checking specs and libraries could lead people to lean more to the PS3 don't you think?

Well I have both and think they both have pros and cons.  From a technical standpoint you are absolutely right and if that was the sole criteria everyone would own a PS3.  But I think you need to place more emphasis on the power of marketing.  Think of the marketing blitz of last year (LBP, Gears 2 etc.), the same thing will unfold this year and it will act as a catalyst to drive console sales.  Think of the economic landscape, do you think people are sitting at home looking at console specs or doing a careful analysis of what to buy for a loved one?  Frankly, I don't think many people even want to spend the cash to buy a console now and it will be marketing that convinces them to do so.

Consumers want a deal and value and based on this the 360 appears to have the edge for the holiday season IMO.

You say that consumes want a deal and value but then also argue that they won't check up specs. In times of caution in purchasing I think that is just about what they do - sure some will go by emotions and what is marketed strongly but most others will be careful on how to spend their hard earned cash and will check things, discuss and delve into the issue.

I think that what favours 360 in NA is the large amount of sales already out. I would consider getting a console like my friends' so that we could play MW online. The opposite works for PS3 in Europe and Japan (though Europe is quite close).

I think both lists are incomplete. But given the delay of an awful lot of games I say the Xbox 360 has the edge regardless.

But I agree with Puffy, short of a 360 price cut the PS3 will comfortably outsell the Xbox 360 in all regions bar the Americas.

Agree here. This is the holiday season where PS3 will eliminate any statistical advantage that the 360 had in Others, and between that and Japan, outsell 360 worldwide, but 360 will edge out PS3 in America (i almost said, "will win in America," but we're not considering the real WW victor in this thread)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
