Actually I think the biggest problem is the medias fear mongering. Six corporations hold 95% of all media outlets, from radio, TV and magazines. While I'm sure that the DS could be used as a tool to molest children. So can Vans that don't have windows in the back and I see plenty of those Molester Vans. Until actual statistics come out about how prevalent it is. It's just fear mongering speculation, and speculation often leads to misinformation. I wouldn't care if they presented this issue in an unbiased light. But the fact is the media immediately trys to scare you. "Harmless to....THINK again, it could be molesting your child as we speak. Notice the phallic looking stylus...." This is a made up quote, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it.

Oh and on responsible journalism:

"As the media focused on a string of terrible child kidnappings, Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly warned that we were only seeing the tip on an iceberg. In a segment on the July 16 O'Reilly Factor, the host warned viewers that there were "more than 100,000 abductions of children by strangers every year in the United States."

Most abductions are related to child custody disputes, and of the 3,000 to 5,000 abductions of children by someone who is not a parent or relative that are reported, on average, each year, a substantial proportion are short-term or involve someone known to the children or their families. However, between 200 and 300 of these cases are serious, and involve ransom, murder or sexual abuse. In about 50 of these the child is killed by his or her abductor. Horrific, yes. An epidemic? No. With 50 million children under the age of 13 in the United States, the actual chance of child abduction and murder turns out to be 1 in a million. "

Now you can see the intention of bringing this news to light. Of course abduction is a serious issue, but are the intentions of these news reporters to just give the facts, or scare people? you be the judge.

OMG it's people like this that gets me so, dissapointed. Why? Why would he do this and post himself as an Christian and stuff. Does he truly think he's beneficial to the world or America or even his Christianity as a whole?

Might as well just complain about cell phones and the internet and public radio.

People are so dumb. I can't take this. I'm already living as a Christian and a Nintendo Fan taking heat for not wanting abortion and homosexuality and Graphics>Gameplay and that Nintendo isn't just for "teh kiddiez". But now i have to deal with people like this? It's hard enough fightin' the things outside of Christianity, but fighting the stuff inside? Its the only true threat to life.

I have a feeling that you don't know how the DS works.

Three things - Brownback dropped out, and he's Catholic, not evangelical. There's a pretty big difference, like calling a Korean "Japanese."

And this is local Fox, not Fox News. Fox News may indeed be Republican Network News, but even they're not going to buck up a loser like Brownback.

In the case of Brownback, I'd say it's more like confusing Mao with Kim Jong Il -- in one sense completely wrong, but in another sense not so very far off.

Brownback may be Catholic, but AFAIK he's running in the same pack of rabid fundamentalists that is dominated by evangelicals.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Just a quick clarification here - every major news outlet sells ratings on fear.  That's why I prefer to watch none of them.

And final-fan -- "Fox news is all about helping the Republicans rule with an iron fist."

 Do you honestly believe that??

That's not entirely true. It's also about the Missing White Girl of the Week.

Unfortunately, this is typical of the Republican-slanted media here in the USA. Outlets like foxnews push this sort of garbage instead of real news.. it makes it easier for republicans to obfuscate issues.
