Forums - Gaming - So tired of the violence…Am I alone is this?

Seriously. If I didn't like gory games I wouldn't be playing FEAR, certainly not for the express purpose of nailing people to walls by their faces by shooting them with foot long, inch thick spikes, and especially not for the humor I find in throwing a grenade at his feet just before I do that, so his dead body waves around like a flag in the explosion without flying away(while his buddy explodes entirely). (FEAR rules)

If you want to see realistic gore...Go to Iraq.

Fear does a pretty good job--yep shoot you with high powered nil gun--you stick to wall--but--HERES A BIG ONE--you dont have gallons and gallons of blood gushing out of the entrance and exit wounds

i just want a game to be realistic about the gore ...is that so hard ?

Why?

I don't like to realistic games. You had one mod on half life like that. If they shot you in the limbs you could almost not move anymore not fun!!.

I like the gore like in Quake 3 , it was great to blow someone up with a rocket laucher and see his skull fly 50 feet away

because if you hype up a game and try to pass it off as the most realistic experience you can ---make it real--not hey lets make it looks good then BLAMMMO you just decapitated a man with a paper clip and he is now old faithful--

Did they really hype is as "Super Realistic" or was that just your interpretation?

I haven't paid attention to this game so I don't know.

I do get tired of the one-upmanship that seems to exist between game developers when it comes to things like violence. Creating the goriest game seems to be the major marketing point rather than creating anything of substance.

Sure there's a market for it so of course these games will be made and some of them are very good, I'd just like to see some diversity between shooters.

It's not that I don't like seeing gore, but people are so de-sensitised to it anyway. And the most disturbing scenes in films that I've seen usually are not the goriest, if video game makers want to have that effect on people they should take a look at what films do.

I think that looking for realism in games is counterintuitive to a point, however if a game specifically advertises and banks on realism as a defining factor in its game then I would rightfully expect such.

However, making an assumption that it would/should be realistic can easily lead to problems down the road.

I do not think you're wrong in wanting more realism in certain games, but you should remember that it is only your opinion.  There are people who like vast amounts of blood and gore as well as people who do not.
