get Metroid Prime Trilogy. It's out now, and it will last 60 hours easily. The problem is that it costs $50 and you said "I have $0. I'm not going to start saving up until I definitely know what I want." So by the time you get the $50 it can be christmas already.

My second option is Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, its and RPG and its cheaper, so it can last you enough and its easier to save for it.

If you're limited by budget I'd say get trilogy - most value for your buck. If you want something more cutting edge to talk to other gamers about then get Scribblenauts, a land mark game, in my opinion, despite its flaws.

trilogy is 3 games... that should occupy you for a while.

Thank you for your suggestions.

As an edit, I just got my DSi stolen today (curse you, locker room!) so my choices are limited to a Wii game, or save for a new DSi.
