Forums - Sony - PSP Go launch boosts NA PSP sales 300%!

I agree with what zucas said

And ioi is human and he makes preditions just like any other person on this site, So yh his prediction are just educated guesses like any other persons.

But his sales data is accurate. He always gets the trends correct and the numbers are always within the margin of error.

So data released by ioi = accurate.
Predictions by ioi = about as reliabe as my predictions. Meaning not very. no ones predictions are reliable so. A prediction after all is just a prediction. No matter who makes them

Yes this is total BS I'm afraid - overall PSP sales roughly doubled from the week before. I'm sure there are 1-2 retailers that may well have seen a 300% jump but most didn't.

Also they are comparing 3 days of PSP Go+PSP sales vs 3 days last week of PSP sales which is also pretty lame.

See this is when people think I have some kind of bias against Sony - I don't - I just hate the way they totally mislead the media with these ridiculously twisted statements.

Bad journalism, bad reporting from Sony.

Lets be fair and honest. I dont think this site, with estimating 600k worldwide PS3 sales for september, the frequently HORRIBLE japan previews are in any place to be that critical about Sony sales figures released internally.

Obviously its a Press Release, we all get that, but to turn your nose up like this site is the bees knees right now at tracking and predicting Sony hardware, well, thats just laughable, imo.

Are you trying to get banned - getting dangerously close

Why should he be banned? Everything he said in the first paragraph was factual, and can be backed up using quotes and links.

As for the second P, he has a point but is obviously bitter (can't blame him) because of the aforementioned recent issues.

There are no issues. Both the Japan preview hardware projections and the 600k projection figure for PS3 have been addressed elsewhere - check my post history.

Nothing that he said was factual - he said why do I have a right to criticise selective and inflated reporting by Sony because we made projections that have been exceeded. They are two different issues. If we were under-reporting our final PS3 figures each week then you could ligitimately make accusations of bias or whatever but that isn't the case. What Sony are doing is twisting figures and selectively reporting to the press to make somethign sound more impressive than it is - that is immoral and very unprofessional. I have every right to criticise their actions, the fact that PS3 slim exceeded my initial forecasts doesn't stop me from doing that or make my point any less valid.

He is getting close to being banned because he is making things personal and suggesting that VGChartz is somehow acting in an unprofessional and biased way, which is a serious accusation and something I do not take lightly.

Also, this is 100% a dictatorship - it definitely isn't wise to start making personal attacks towards the site owner, general respect and forum etiquette is the least I expect if you want to continue to post here.

I was basically going to post what ioi just said, but he beat me to it.

Also, ever since I saw these little clips of the boost to PSP hardware I thought they were worded oddly and to be purposely concealing/confusing.  It's good to know I'm on the same page as ioi

About the numbers

It is obvious that sony is going to have a slight bias and arrange the data in a way to make it seem the best for them. I am sure most companies do it. Just take the % with a grain of salt. but they arw a good indication that it has done at least decent

In other words, according to VGChartz figures PSP sold 30,000 the week before the launch.

This means PSP sold 120,000 during Go launch week in US.

Now my maths is nothing special but I think I am correct in saying you just made a maths booboo.

Anyway good numbers and pretty shocking TBH.

Yea he made a little bit of an "oopsie" with his math there but I'm sure most know what it really is so no biggie.  But threefold increase is definitely pretty good.  Not necessarily amazing for a new SKU considering DSi and PS3 slim as of late, but considering the pricing situation Sony should be quite satisfied.

He's right if it was a 300% increase (versus 300% of last week).  100% increase would be 60k, 200% 90k, 300% 120k.  But it isn't particularly clear.

Indeed. So next time, before you correct me, check your own math.

Huh? What Sony are doing is very professional. It's called PR.

________

ITS ONLY FOR THE 3 DAYS GUYS!!!!!!!!1

NOT THE WHOLE WEEK!

And only some retailers, which means they could have only been talking about the stores where it sold best.

And they didn't specify which PSP model helped boost hardware the most. For all we know, it could've been the PSP-3000 that helped boost hardware due to Gran Turismo.

Well yes I see now.  Although 300% of 30k is 90k, I see my error..  Guess the wording is where my misunderstanding came in.  My bad Star scream.

I thought you were joking about banning me. Im not saying we cant be critical, i meant the PR is obviously sony boasting and will always say only positive things.

I dint mean you cant respond or critique figures numbers from anyone, even the console manufacturers, thats why we all come here, to read and discuss the numbers you tirelessly accumulate for us and we are grateful. But i also think its our right and the purpose of this forum to take in all info and the accuracy of past info and past analysis and extrapolate that on the whole. Which i merely did as its my opinion.

Im not blindly bashing your work or your figures or even your right to express you opinion on other data, im simply responding to your post, from one human being to another, which is the purpose of forums regardless of title, we should be alowed to comment on active postings, if you post we should be allowed to discuss maturely and intelligently with opinion without being harsh, rude, or personal...which i have done.

If expressing opinions to "mods" or "site admins" who post on matters is frowned upon because you wish to post and for all of us to nod along without engaging in debate or respectful opinions or disagreements, it will become a sad day at VGchartz.

You guys notice it was PSP sales that rose 300%, not PSP Go right?
